I didn't realize that world amateur titles existed for smooth (and rhythm too), but maybe I just never noticed. Embassy Ball is hosting them in August. Is this a new title or has this always been the case?

Like American sports, world titles in some cases, are very exclusive , not in the general sense, but in the lack of participation by most countries ,who do not teach/dance, that style.

And in fairness, lots and lots of international players. I think the standard argument these days is that that's what makes it a "world" series.

Interesting...so I know that USDC has national titles and Embassy currently gives world titles. In rhythm and smooth, i.e. American style dances...what is the difference between getting a world title or a national one?

So they are using the word "World". Any idea how many countries are represented?
(or is more like the "World Series" in baseball?)

Exactly my point...heres a story I could tell, about a very high profile pro. who was not from the States. and competed in both divisions in the States .After winning both, the event became " closed "...

And, I dont object to that. An "open" and " closed " event, like the UK has done for many yrs, is a not a bad thing.
In matter of fact, I also think that ,open and closed events for championship status, should be included in all the "majors " .

The answer is in the titles..
