    What are DJs doing wrong

Neither do I, but it's easy to make such apps these days.

    Encuentros.. Please explain. thx

You can say the same about any social dance in isolation. Salsa dancers argue about the 1 or 2 and don't really understand when I ask "why not both?" Why does this happen? Because tango or salsa in isolation isn't enough training material to understand music, much less if you adhere firmly to...

    What are DJs doing wrong

In terms of dance and music, they are all children playing with toys, so who cares really?

    What are DJs doing wrong

I actually agree, and I wasn't dancing tango 15-20 years ago, but my impression is that both the younger generation and the older generation have on average better taste in music than that middle group (or that group is just suffering from the equivalent of Stockholm syndrome)

    What are DJs doing wrong

Because they play music people actually think is good, rather than a parade of mediocre and overplayed stuff from 2nd and 3rd tier orchestras. I'm sure at least 50% of the DJs could be replaced by algorithmically generated playlist with better results.

    What are DJs doing wrong

TBH people's playlists at informal practicas usually contain better music than whatever the DJs are playing at milongas.

    What are DJs doing wrong

tbh that's what I would recommend new people do rather than telling people to follow my own process, which requires some prerequisite skills and I'm not even sure which ones exactly.

Yeah, I'd ask for a refund on the grounds that the DJ didn't understand his job

The most common injury source is, by far, back steps done in sharp heels with bad technique (IE - abruptly putting all your weight on it.) If the objective is safety, the rules should probably say something about that...

The long-term solution is dual-role dancing?

Once people have reduced tango to an excessively sanitized and polite form anyway, what does it matter whether you're dancing with a man or woman anymore? A lot of people seem to enjoy the sanitized version, even if it's something very different from what was originally implicitly promised.

The description automatically filters for the intended participants, that's a feature. I wouldn't go either.

The long-term solution is dual-role dancing?

    1) Dance skills are definitely one area where there are a lot of things people don't even know that they don't know. 2) It's socially acceptable for women to publicly complain, less so for men 3) A lot of the discourse surrounding cabeceo is hypocritical, people want to be able to set a high...

    Tango Diaries

From my point of view they're both essentially retro in their own way, so I'm not sure why I am getting the impression that a feud exists.

and if they said "Troilo" that doesn't really help unless you know them well since it could mean about 5 different styles of tanda

    What are DJs doing wrong

I'll just give my approximate recipe that solves this. (Most of the top 20+ orchestra lists people make are awful and should be deleted.) ~50% top ~5 orchestras. High quality, lots of songs available, almost everyone agrees they're good ~25% lesser orchestras played according to general...

Guardia Vieja, Tango Milonguero, and Tango Salon as styles of music

We don't agree on a damn thing including the definition of AT itself, might as well close this thread.

I doubt any of them attempted to sign up in the first place.

Guardia Vieja, Tango Milonguero, and Tango Salon as styles of music

I disagree. The tango community celebrates historical figures that were very individual, even polarizing.
