Feel like a loser for never having guests at my comp/events

@opendoor I recall your username now and this isn't the first time you've mentioned this. Yah I get your point which is why I also go social dancing in order to keep my leading skills intact. But in my city, the dance socials are mostly salsa, bachata, and merengue. I don't compete in those...

Feel like a loser for never having guests at my comp/events

You're talking about social dancing. Yah I go regularly to those. I enjoy it but it doesn't have the same feeling as training for competitions. But I'm talking more about competitions I guess and those are organized by my dance school.

Feel like a loser for never having guests at my comp/events

I live in a medium-sized city and I love my dance studio but a lot of my comp/events are in other bigger cities. My parents are at retirement age and they like to spend their time and money on travel and I want them to be happy and plus, they're not that interested in dance. Neither are my...

What is your favorite dance and why?

Viennese Waltz. Love the gracefulness of the movements. It kinda reminds me of figure skating. I always loved watching figure skating growing up so maybe that's where it's from.

Hmm I thought I attached the file in the OP. Anyway, here it is:

Saw this note posted on my front door this morning

I am an Asian male. Bachelor. 35 years old. I live in a condo complex. I have no idea which tenant on my floor posted this. But whoever did, I'm sure they've seen me before. I find it offensive that this person immediately assumed I must have been playing guitar hero rather than a real guitar...

Saw this note posted on my front door this morning

I find it funny how quick people in society like to label people as "losers." I'm a 35 year old male bachelor. I live alone and I have a cat. Besides ballroom, I enjoy playing music. I was practicing guitar late last night. I play in a band and I was practicing for a rehearsal that I have...

    Finding and Keeping that Edge

@lucia_l Wow you look great for someone aged 59! Thought you were a lot younger. Yeah, I enjoy the process of training for a comp more so than the comp itself. I always go into a bit of a depression after the comp is over cause it wasn't what I envisioned it to be. It's about managing...

    Finding and Keeping that Edge

This not only applies to dance but just about to any type of skill-based activity. It's like driving a car at full speed to edge of a cliff but slowing down as you approach so you don't go over but also so you don't fall short of the edge. That's how I approach achieving that edge. Once it's...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@davedove @David_D Also includes 35 year old bachelors like myself who has a good job but is pretty much a nerd but has closet hidden artistic inclinations and a need to socialize in a structured way without a lot of alcohol and small talk.

Lost interest in friends and social life

@10tmf I didn't mean all professions. I'd say if you're a doctor or you work for SpaceX or Google or you're some sorta entrepreneur or creative person, I'd say your career is probably your passion. But for most people, their careers are just a way to make a living. They don't hate it but they...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@Larinda McRaven @c955 I've thought about all of this. I think it perhaps is arrogant of me to be so judgmental of others just because I stumbled upon a hobby that I now love to do. But as for keeping in touch with friends who are genuine, I think genuine friends in general are hard to come...

Jealous of SO dance partners (with my significant other)

Chiming in here. If you look at my post history, you'll see that I'm one of those idiots who started ballroom dancing as a way to meet more women. I was coming off a relationship breakup and a job layoff and was in a bad place. I knew I had to do something different with my life. I went to a...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@Steve Pastor I found that comment to be particularly strikingly mean as well and I hope you don't take it to heart. I'm mid 30's but I look younger. The dance studio I primarily go to is made up mostly of elderly ladies and gentlemen. I'm one of the few young students there. I've always been...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@Larinda McRaven I think I wasn't totally clear when I said other people are boring. I meant to say, people who just go to work and come home and watch netflix are boring. Those people you mentioned have hobbies and I totally respect that. It doesn't matter how "lame" a hobby is. And yeah...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@snapdancer Haha. These days, if you don't use social media, you're considered "off the grid." Besides a few close friends, my bandmates, my family, and people I see when I'm dancing, I'm as good as dead. But yeah, I get your point. We only have one life to live. Live it the way we want.

Lost interest in friends and social life

What's their core belief exactly? One thing to note is a lot of my annoyance and sensitivity at being questioned for being a bachelor comes from other MEN. Women oddly enough have never questioned or criticized me for the way I'm living my life. It's always been other guys which is odd because...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@snapdancer Hmm not sure I fit into that. I googled it and it seems like the men who make up that community don't actually enjoy being single but are being single as a way to somehow "punish" women by removing themselves from the dating pool. It's almost like they are trying too hard to...

Lost interest in friends and social life

@IndyLady At least you've got the spouse and kids part down. So the fact that you work, have a family, AND manage to do ballroom as a hobby is more than what most "normal" folks get up to. Most married folks that I know just go to work and spend time with their kids and if they're really...

Hmm, I got a couple of likes. But what I meant to ask was, isn't this dangerous?
