Looking for dance style for a wedding song

Hmmmmm...definitely something to consider. So far I've got the Nightclub 2-step and the Rumba reserved for 1st and 2nd dances with my future hubby. I could do the NC2S again with my dad... or do a different dance to either of the two hubby dances. That might be easier to do than to torture...

Looking for dance style for a wedding song

I have another wedding dance question, lol! This is for the Father/Daughter dance. I want to dance to "Sunshine on My Shoulders" by John Denver. :) You can here it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eivZd4j5MBs I cannot imagine what kind of dance would go with that, lol! Any ideas? Thanks...

Looking for dance style for a wedding song

Thanks for the input! I too thought it needed some kind of latin dance with that kind of beat going on in the background! Rumba it shall be, unless someone thinks there's something better for it? I'll have to keep swing in mind for another dance! It is one of my favorites!

Wow, you're way ahead of me, Derek! Those sound like dream DJs for folks like us!

Advice/Opinions - Dance and Music at our Wedding Reception

thinkingsam - what I've seen is that if the non-dancing people are comfortable enough to even be on the dance floor, at slow songs they will simply put their arms around their partner and sway with the music. :) kayak - yeah, tell me about it. That's my great-uncle Don. Love him, but he's...

Dance studios in the Twin Cities, MN?

I'm sorry if this is not the right place on the forum to post my question. I looked and didn't find any links to studios in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I've taken Tango, Swing, Salsa, etc. lessons before, but my fiance is brand new to dance (though he's excited to learn!). I've never taken...

Advice/Opinions - Dance and Music at our Wedding Reception

Thanks for your advice! It's allowed me to relax a bit and incorporate a mix of music styles into the reception playlist :) Still, there will be No Chicken Dance! Ha!

Advice/Opinions - Dance and Music at our Wedding Reception

Hi All, I'm so happy that my specific question will be answered better here than in any wedding forum! It's still early in the planning process, but my fiance and I are starting to discuss the reception, and in particular, the dancing and type of music. First topic: Will it be too boring...

    Dancing with tall girls

This is some good food for thought! Just not the new boyfriend part  (j/k)! I actually was thinking of it opposite of Waltzguy, that in ballroom, my shaping would actually make me look shorter just by virtue of the backward lean. My head would technically be lower than his. I guess we'll...

    Dancing with tall girls

thanks everyone for your replies! What I'm hearing is that it's not a big deal for social dancing, and both partners learn to accomodate. I agree and typically expect my dance partners to be shorter than me when going to social dances, and I could care less. I'm 6'2" if I'm wearing 3" heels - in...

Is sexual/romantic chemistry essential for dancesport?

First, my apologies to bring up something that's been worked over again and again! Didn't see a thread like it in 6 or so pages of searching. But anyway..I can only imagine that this would be a hot topic simply because we are all human! But to the substance of your comment. I disagree that if a...

Is sexual/romantic chemistry essential for dancesport?

For those who want and allow there to be sexual tension and chemistry between yourself and your dance partner, how does your significant other feel about that? Do they know? I'm just curious.

Is sexual/romantic chemistry essential for dancesport?

Eeeeps! I sooo don't want to go there with another man, lol! Back when I was in an unhappy relationship, I'd be all about the attraction and chemistry with a dance partner! Whenever I watch dance competitions and the announcers point out that they're not a couple in real life, I...

Is sexual/romantic chemistry essential for dancesport?

I hope it's not required, as that will scare me off from the possibility of accepting a dance partner who is not my real life partner :???:! I would love my regular dance partner to be my mate, so that we can really tap into that sizzle! :D

    Dancing with tall girls

Geez! A Mod resurrected a Thread from 2004 and buried my post in it? Wow, Really? LOL. I'm happy to have been made aware of that thread, but I really don't know why I had to be moved (and it took me forever to find my post!). Since this topic is coming up again a whole 4 years later, I don't...

    Dancing with tall girls

Can the follow be a lot taller than the lead? Hello all! This is my first posting in this forum, so be kind if this has been asked before, heehee. I actually made this account to ask this one particular question (but I'm glad I found this forum, and I plan on sticking around!!). Here's my...
