    Three Fallaways: footwork

I’m looking for written footwork of three fallaways in foxtrot. Would anyone know if it’s in Geoffrey Hearn’s book, A Technique of Advanced Standard Ballroom Figures? If not, any ideas of where I could find it? Thanks!

    Makeup & Hair vendor recommendations

I’ve worked with Lashes and Brushes. I wasn’t in love with my hairstyle, but I thought it was good. Would I try them again? Yes. Are they at the top of my list? No, just because - if I have several options - there are others I like a little more. My biggest concerns are that the style looks...

Question for standard ladies about pulling in stomach

Yes, you are exactly right. He’s been telling me that my hips go backward and stomach goes forward. ‍ It IS hard. I feel confused when I try to move and keep my hips still and abdomen in at the same time, which is why I was wondering if it was for real...if this is what standard ladies are...

Question for standard ladies about pulling in stomach

I had a lesson with my coach the other day and he said we’re going to start working on my core. When I move backward, he wants me to pull stomach back and up. He says this helps my partner go around me and - though he didn't say it directly - I think it's supposed to help stabilize my abdomen...

    Official Ballroom Song ID Thread

Does anyone know the name of this waltz at the beginning of the video? I suspect it's part of a specialty ballroom album. I've tried searching the lyrics, using shazam & soundhound...and nothing comes up :( It seems to have been popular in WDC competitions toward the end of 2019.

I appreciate this response very much. It's insightful and makes want to improve the way I ask questions. Thank you :)

Direct your teacher or let your teacher direct you?

Yes :) I see you said, "Those are the best coaches, Larinda and j_alexandra's. The kind that let you pick the starting point, and then they run with it." It looked to me like you were trying to address an additional concern when you brought up, "Every coach I've ever had has found a plethora...

Direct your teacher or let your teacher direct you?

My concern isn't so much about finding things to work on, but rather who decides what is important. It sounds like the best way is what Larinda said: discuss the intention/bring up questions, do some dancing, and let the teacher take it from there.

Direct your teacher or let your teacher direct you?

My partner and I have only worked with long-term coaches (people who have seen us regularly for at least a year). But this year, we've decided to branch out: attend some dance camps and work with visiting teachers. One of these professionals is the teacher of our main coach. He's been telling us...

Do you order dancewear and shoes from overseas?

I have not ordered from RP Atelier, but I met the designer, Agnieszka, at Blackpool and spent a lot of time at her booth. She's a lovely person and her dresses are great (I tried on two) - the quality was very good. She didn't have anything already made that fit exactly the way I wanted it to...

I've also used a chinese dressmaker and have worn that dress for two years now. I still receive compliments on it, from little girls to pros :)

The job of a comp registrar

Right?? It seems like an interesting job for some of us administrative people...and I feel like I could be good at it. I also wonder how one gets into the job. I'm assuming there are some politics involved as job listings for registrars don't seem to be advertised.
