2006 USA DanceSport Nationals

Maybe "legally present" in the US? It was such a fight getting that fixed, even after I brought to the attention of the USDSC at least one couple that had not competed at nationals, despite being there legally on student visa, because they didn't have green cards and they thought that's what the rule required.

I've suggested before and now I'm really asking: please take the discussion about the rules to another thread. This thread is for LOGISTICAL INFORMATION. Let's keep it that way or no one will read it and people will miss valuable announcements.

Bottom line: If you want to dance at Nationals in a Championship event, show me your documentation or I won't let you dance. I don't care if you are standing in front of me crying that you spent a ton of money on plane tickets and a hotel, either.
Hold the line, Laura! :D

Grrrrrr.

Sorry to sound like a hard a__.

In other news, the schedule is under development at this very moment, and as soon as we have a timeline we can show people I will let you all know!

If you haven't registered already....

If you haven't registered already for USA Dance Nationals, the last day that I am taking late entries without prior approval is this Friday, July 28th. After that, you have to ask me first if you can enter the competition. Also, the current $50 per couple late fee goes up to $100 per couple (if we take you) after July 28th.

So if you know someone who hasn't registered yet...tell them they'd better get on the ball and do it because time is running out.

The fastest way to register is online at

http://www.o2cm.com/entry/?event=usa

Make sure you buy two "Late Fee" tickets when you register -- that is what pays the $50 per couple late fee. It is not an admission ticket -- you still would need to buy admission tickets at some point.

laura, do you know the rough size of the practice floor in the venue? i just need to know if it's one of those tiny squre space we get at some comps (i doubt) or a decent size floor. thanks

I *believe* that it will be the same size as the comp floor, but will be the gymnasium flooring that is part of the convention center rather than the really nice "no metal rails" wooden floor that we are bringing in for the competition floor.

The practice floor will be about 23 feet by 70 feet. The main floor will be 45 by 75 feet.

There are no plans to air the event on television.

Thank you for the floor size info. If the practice floor is not nearby, it would be helpful if you could put signs up to the dressing rooms and practice area. Are we going to be able to contact the video vendor in advance?

There will be forms for the video vendor in each couple's packet that they get when they check in.

The practice floor will be very near the competition floor. They are in the same room, separated by the dais and a bunch of curtains. So, while on the practice floor you will hear everything being announced in the room, plus the current music being played for the event.

I was appointed Sign Queen, so I am making all sorts of signs! Coat check, on deck area, dressing rooms, etc etc etc. Yay, fun with the laminator!

So does this means that if we want to practice in that floor, we need to have a ticket for that event?

Are there any plans of posting the list of competitors for different events? I would like to know if my event is just a final or if there is a semi..

If you want to come into the building, you will need a ticket. There will be a way for competitors to check in and pick up their packets without coming into the building.

We are still working on the competition schedule and will announce if and when we will be able to have "open hours" for practice.

When the schedule is complete, a timeline including the times of the various rounds for each event will be posted on the web site.
