2009 MIT Open

Since this competition is following YCN points rules, it would be nice of the organizers to post those proficiency rules for the competitors. It's hard to know whether or not you're eligible for a category when you don't know the rules (and I am not speaking of myself here;)).

I see hypotheticals under the FAQ section that *could* possibly tell people how many points they have if they looked at those but there isn't, as far as I can see, a consise statement of how one goes about obtaining the requisite 7 points to place out of a level. That is what I meant.

I guess looking at the registration, I see many couples who could *possibly* be out of a level at MIT because it's following YCN rules and not really know that because they very much belong in that level for USA Dance competitions.

Agreed, and I reported a few questionable couples already. Remains to be seen whether the registrations will be changed.

If you're aware of people you believe are dancing down, please do let the registrar know. Better yet, cite any documentation if you have it. We do try to spot check and research for possible rules violations.

Already did, so I trust that appropriate action will be taken by those involved if they are found to be dancing at the wrong level.

So someone sent something to me directly here at DF, but I'm not the registrar. So please, if anyone has any qualification issues to report, send them to the MIT Open comp registrar. The address is on the registration page. Thanks!

I saw that the registrar sent an email on 4/11 asking competitors to review the rules and make sure that they are dancing at the appropriate level (especially in pre-champ). People were asked to change their registration by Wednesday 4/15 – today. However I still see a number of couples who haven't changed their registration. What is MIT's policy in this case?

Any idea when we can see more detailed schedule.. I have a feeling we will need to get up EARLY to drive to boston just trying to figure out HOW EARLY

public flogging? :p
Saw some DQs in last year's results, but ideally would want these couples removed BEFORE the final, y'know?

I've heard of a couple a few years ago who was disqualified after the first round of pre-champ, and their champ registration was also cancelled. I am curious to know if this kind of sanctions will be applied this year? It seems to me that there is a lot of couples who would be affected.

heck, I'm still trying to figure out how ONE leader is gonna dance with THREE followers in PC Latin.... :cool: (unless somehow there are 3 leaders with the same name?!?)
