A new mission...impossible???

tacad is right -- this is "dance fasting." Like the Buddha, I do not believe that asceticism will lead to enlightenment. It certainly doesn't make me happy.

But if you were on a fast, you wouldn't go to the local butcher, go buy the best piece of steak, grill it up to a perfect medium rare, put it on your plate, savor the aroma, and then throw it away cuz you're on a fast!

How about this instead? I'll skip the "Getting dressed up, driving 30-40 minutes to the club, paying my admission, and getting psyched up for the first dance" part.

This mission is not one for the weak of salsa heart....I just experienced this, and for those bold enough to try it here it is:

Go out salsa dancing, do those first "warm up" dances to start to feel it, have fun, but right before you hit that "all right I've got at least some of that salsa addiction fix"---Leave!! AHHH!! :)

I had to leave about halfway through my normal time spent salsa dancing last night....  Wasnt pretty.....

Good luck on this one!! And no cheating, otherwise, mission not accomplished....
I'm an expert at this, Salsaonone. I do it all the time -- dancing for an hour or two at the start of a night and then dashing off to catch my train home just as good dancers turn up!

Dancing a little is still far better than not dancing as far as I'm concerned, and you do get used to it and learn to make the most of your hour (this is how I learned the art of "doing the MacMoto"! )

hmmmmm I don't know Macmoto......I don't know if I can be THAT disciplined about leaving my salsa night prematurely
Well, when it's THE LAST train home and you've still got to go to work next morning, you don't need much discipline... :(

When I posted this, I never thought it would get such an emotional reaction....forget about the abortion issue, forget about the war in iraq issue, for get about the homosexuality issue, forget about secular vs traditional isssue...if you really want to incite a civil war, take away dance!! "what are we going to do today brain?" "The same thing we try evernight Pinky, TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!".....hmmm..maybe I'm on to something...

BTW: Jamaicanspice, you use to look exactly like Uma Thurman...now you have this uncanny similarity to Halle Berry.....how do you do it??

When I go out for Salsadancing, I drive 45 minutes by car spent 11 € on gasoline another 6 € for entrance fee. So where is the point in leaving early if I've spent already that much money.

I do the same, salsa dancing is nowhere near where I live...the drive is usually 30 minutes to 45 minutes, and the cover ranges from 7 to 10 dollars....I thought that was just part of the salsa experience...

It certainly is for me!

(and I guess this means I can't complain about gasoline prices here in the US!)

Hmmm ... now if this was just Salsa, I'd say this wouldn't be tough for me.

However, I have a comp on Saturday, so if I go social ballroom dancing on Friday night, and I was seriously considering not doing this, then I might be able to stop myself just as I get close to being warmed up for some serious waltz, tango, and foxtrot.

Maybe this means I'll get in a tad bit of dancing anyway! But this will be a challenge if I follow this to the letter and stop dancing after I get warmed up. I not sure I can accomplish this, if I go. ;)
