Good lord. Gotta love moving targets and shifting goal posts...
Latterly I am only challenging Joe's description of shared balance that the lady
is so heavily dependent on her partner that she has to be muscled around.
I explored Escrucio Tango Sciatico first.
. . . .
I've got news for you - nor did I like it!I haven't delved into that exact style derivation, and I have no plans to! I don't like it at all.
Hopefully the upright axis (guessing here!)) of the Arthritico Nuevo variantBut I do think I've learned some styles that were part of the larger Escrucio school. In fact, I'm pretty sure that Tango Arthritico is part of that tradition, although I'm not sure if it is the original style or an offshoot. I've also been exploring a more recent development in the evolution of tango... Arthritico Nuevo..
I think he was saying that the ladies who require that are leaning too much and that they are likely wrong. He was suggesting that perhaps you dislike shared weight (as does he) because the ladies you have experienced doing it are not doing it properly (not properly counterbalancing but rather becoming dead weight requiring muscle rather than natural forces of physics to lead). And he said nothing about the muscles being arm muscles. I'm pretty sure he's read the AT threads enough to know that AT can be led without any arm involvement. In fact, if the woman is leaning that much, most likely the leader isn't (and can't) lead with the arms anyway.
Don't mean to put words in your mouth Joe, but that's how I read your post.
Plonk! Goobye, JohnEm.
