Diana Krall released her new album, Wallflower, a few days ago. It's already on Spotify: Diana Krall – Wallflower.

The album contains a couple of rumbas. One of them, California Dreaming, is about 27 mpm (after a 1:20 intro).

Then there's this slow rumba,which is almost at the new tempo approved by the WDC for international style rumba:

Is this a samba? Sure sounds like it in the background. I Know you leads are generally better ears for this than follows are:

To my ears it doesn't quite sound like a samba, more like one of those other Latin dances that I don't do -- Cumbia perhaps.

It's doable (and better than a lot of "Samba" music I've been hearing lately). Tempo is 97 bpm.

Love me like you do... definitely can. It's an American Rumba in terms of speed. I was picking up 120 beats per minute or more.

SOS - Need someone else to help here. It sounds like it's workable just from testing it out.

..... How are you getting 120 BPM out of it? I'm getting 24 MPM or 96 BPM, making it Int'l Rumba-able.

The "quality" of these songs are somewhat off from what I'd prefer for (great) Int. Rumba.

LMLYD isn't "quiet" enough after about 1:00 for IS Rumba figures, and has this "rush" quality
to it (harmonic sustain?), which may be why one might think it suits AS Rumba, although the
tempo and heavy beats (on the full counts) is fine for IS. To me, IS Rumba is "snappy," so
music that sounds that way inspires such dancing.

SOS has that Vienesse Waltz (Smooth) sound to me because of the lighter, even, beats, though
it's not 3/4 or 6/8.

Of course, this is all personal taste and YMMV.

Yes, it definitely works as a quickstep, around 49.5 mpm.

As much as I appreciate new songs... I'm not sure if I can actually dance to this. Reminds me a bit of what a high school marching band would play... but very poorly.

It seems like it would be one of those songs an "evil" DJ (or competition music-master) would play as a joke to see what kind of reaction the crowd would give -- kind of like the "Wags the Dog" tango by The Wiggles, obviously not something you'd want to over-play ..... or maybe you just have to listen to it 100 times before it grows on you.
