Can it be possible???

Hi, Buddies!
I was just wondering...have you ever known in your life such examples like a teacher and his best student of ballroom dances are coming a couple???? :-)
And another one question - Is it possible?

I wanna discribe my situation...
My teacher in last 3 years can't find an ideal partner (they are too thin for him, or - too boring without a fire, or - just tall as his height is 173). When I saw him at first ....I said to myself "I'll be his the best partner EVER!!!". Now...I'm his the best student of all groups...I know I'm not too good for him technically YET, but - YET! But I'll keep doing....And the most interesting part - it's not just the desire of mine...It's logical understanding of situation. I can understand. When he takes me during classes to show the other students how the new move workes..how it will be in dancing....I SEE - we're the best!! No one lookes like me beside him! Height - perfect, form - perfect, precision - perfect, our looks - perfect, any aspect...except technic ... but i'm gonna dance as much as I can!
So tell me - is it possible? Can we be ...?

Like an Amateur couple? The student has to take lessons from another instructor who is better than the current instructor to catch up to the same level. I don't think a student who learns primarily under the instructor, without external influences, can possibly equal the instructor.

I'll admit, I have dreams of equaling my instructor. But, by the time I do, she'd have long retired.

I say yes....it's possible. If he feels the same, and your chemistry is great, then why not?

I know at least one pro couple where it's happened, but the student was taking lessons from a number of teachers before he asked her to partner with him.

When Andre Gavriline was an Amateur back in Russia, he was a student of Elena Kryuchkova's. And the rest is history. It can happen, but don't be crushed if it doesn't.

It's certainly possible, I know one other pro couple who started out this way. But as mentioned, I certainly wouldn't count on it.

It's certainly possible, but would take quite a bit of work to get up at that level. :)

Also, considering the massive amounts of time most couples practice together, you'd have to think ahead about what you'd do if the partnership broke up under "less than friendly" terms.

Wow! Really? :-)
Maybe I have a chance too.... anyway I really try and want it!!!!! I even feel it...and I see he feels it too. But there is one problem....or maybe not problem - he's married and his wife is dancer too. Her level is just a little bit higher then mine...just a little bit! I'm so afraid they'll be dancing together...:-(

I am very bothered that you would consider his wife a possible problem. Your teacher is a paid professional. You are his paying student. His wife has nothing to do with your dance education.

His wife has nothing to do with your dance education.

I can't help but smile sagely. My current pros and my immediate-past pro are all married; and two of those have children. I can tell you that spouses and children DO have impacts on scheduling lessons, and, if you're pro-am, a pros availability for attending comps. Oh, yes!
