CE question to leaders-the CW giro, how do you begin it?

It seems to me that if you are trying to dance milonguero, the embrace is not off center. Even if the embrace is off-center, it shouldn't affect your balance unless you are doing something like leaning to your right by bending sideways at the waist..
well, obviously you 'know' more than I do..and I respect that:tongue:
but if the woman is off to my right instead of straight on...well, it's a BIG change! ..and yes the balance is different... I've never seen a woman lead as well as any average man..probably a fault of the breasts..as in throwing a baseball.:together:

Do you WANT the follower off to your right? If you do, that's one thing...

But if not, you do have some amount of control over whether she drifts there. Of course, SHE also has to play her part and stay in front of you, but there are things the leader does or doesn't do that affect "follower drift". Some leaders are harder to stay in front of than others. And of course, some don't actually want the follower flat-on directly in front.

And BTW I know several women who lead MUCH better than the "average" male leader... I wouldn't claim to be one of them however.

Speaking of followers who lead... it jsut realized we haven't seen Heather lately? Did I miss something?

Hmmm, thanks for the pointer. I must be sliding my embrace to the right
when I go outside her right in parallel walking...I'm not sure that I want to do that but it has been working..I must give it some thought and more looking into.

Just glanced at the video thanks. As I only do close embrace I couldn't see
any relevant embrace in this dance.

You wanted giro and how to lead it.
There you have good leader's and follower's pattern.
Full CE is quite difficult for follower because she needs to have very good dissociation.
So you loosen a bit, with your shoulder, or as seen in this video, by releasing an embrace a bit.
Or it would be more difficult if they had stayed a little bit more forward.

I saw on one video Fede and Ines what you put as grapewine.
I will watch them again and let you know.

can you put a link with what kind of an embrace you are dancing.
This is usual tango salon embrace (close - open).

.

Not nessesarily... she needs to know to do a crossing ocho rather than a pivoting ocho. Then there is not so much need for dissociation.

Oh ooh, this is obviously going to be my next 'problem'...getting the embrace, after all this input I am beginning to thing that I am 'adjusting' my embrace without giving it due thought...I don't even know what embrace I am now using! I haven't had a dance partner for two weeks and have been practicing alone...so, right now I am doing walking with giros...getting the balance and steps smooth... hopefully this week I will again be dancing with a woman.:)
I want to dance close embrace with the woman's right breast between both of mine.
I think that I may have slid it over even more to accomadate the outside paralell walking that I've been doing a lot of lately... but I won't know until I next have a partner to dance with.

@Mario7

It will be very difficult to have firm embrace all the time.
And if lady puts her arm a little bit lower it would limit your dissociation.

@Zoopsia

I believe its possible to do it that way.
But it's awkard to me, and I was taught not to do giro that way.

In giro focus on your shoulders first. Steps will come naturally.
Always open outer sholder so you invite follower into opening space.

I was taught to dance CE that she is in front of me.
My righ nipple on her left nipple (with appropriate partners height )
I tried but rotations seems to bit a little off .
Dancing V and N on N. :ladiesma:

Yes, I was advised to think 'lead shoulder' by a good dance partner.
l will try the nipple to nipple..hmm, this could get even better!:cowboy:

I wanted to say when I was in the middle of her breasts that it's strange.
And simple ocho cortado is very awkard.

Dancing her in front of her gives you a better feel where she is,
and your frame is not shifted to the side i.e. shoulder for giro.
And all body dissociation you make it will be well transfered and all body movements as well.

And you push her with your body, arms are only for the embrace and rotation that are led with frame and opening shoulder.
Arms shouldn't be stiff not limp, but active.
Varying embrace in CE you prepare partner for various circular movements.
e.g. using free leg, circular colgada, dinamic circular movements.
So remember: embrace is never constant during the dance.

Dancing that try to be in V position, you slightly to your left, her to her right.
Here forehead should be on your cheek.
So you will be able to feel her like you would have and instrument that you play e.g. violin.
The way she steps, the weight, where is her free leg cause all spine movements will be transfered.

Check Pablo Rodriguez and Noelia Hurtado.

If you are taught by Julio Balmaceda teachers that you have stiff embrace, but very flexible lower part.
Rodrigo Palacios and Augustina Berenstein are his pupils.

I want to get some more clarity on executing the CW giro in close embrace.
I'm noticing that some tuck the right foot behind the left in order to set it up
others lead a womans right front cross, etc., etc.
I'm sure that there must be around a dozen ways to start it but I'm asking you for your favorite two ways to set it up.
I'm wanting to narrow my focus down to a couple standard ways to begin these and I'd like to get sooo automated that I never have to think and they just trigger themselves spontaneously. I feel that I have the CCW well on it's way. I love the CW giro and I'm just trying to get an overview of other's favorite approaches. thanks:banana:
PS: if a woman has a favorite way to be lead into the CW, please post about it!

If I'm dancing close embrace in a flexible v salon style (which alternates between v & flat on) the techniques in the previously posted vids are my default (lead the back ocho, step in with right foot)
