I'm in the arduous process of growing out a pixie cut, and I think it's going to be a supremely awkward point by the end of August when I compete. Yep- same thing- growing out my pixieimage.jpeg
 
so far not a fan - and it makes it harder for those not using a professional stylist to produce "the look" for themselves
 
My hair has been growing for about 3 months. I just pull it off my face with a headband, and the loose hair in the back dries into curls. Love this. However.......with a comp looming, I'm faced with the decision to cut it off so I can bleach the long dark roots, and have a tidy and groomed look on the floor. Oh, the sacrifices we make...... *sigh*

Haven't seen a picture, but I think you can work with this... I'm seeing something like:

You may still need to colour it to get everything even, but I think this would be an awesome comp look for shorter hair.

Can you use extensions for volume? Rock the roots, and style the extensions with some lovely swoops and swirls?

This is lovely! But, I've got a week before my comp, and no appointment with a hairdresser. I always do my own. Oy. I'm just going to get an even, layered cut, with as much volume as I can keep, and do what I can. At least I won't be loosing all of my length.

Fair enough... just thought I'd supply an option!

I love this look so much I have bought old-school setting lotion and clips... and watched several how-to videos... now I just needed a short-haired guinea pig to practice on before I add it to my list of "can do for people" comp hairstyles :)
