Couple with clean technique

I do not agree w/ that last little sentence, but I assume that the vid is your response to a couple w/ good/great tech. What is it exactly that you like about them?

I like that what and how they perform can be easily translate to the social tango.
As I learn elements i.e. technique on the classes and workshops, I can easily notice how is sth done and explore new combinations.

I saw the video and btw I saw them before.
They were performing on Silenzio concert.
They are stage tango dancer, but clean. 8)
 
Usually stage tango uses some of this basic ideas (it’s not a complete list):

  • Connection to the audience.
  • Geometry: fill the whole stage, keep alignment to the spectators (they don’t want to see the man’s back),
  • Hold interest by change: dynamics, moods, heights, connection, plot
  • Shape a stage character, plot, costume
  • Do something spectacular, romantic, dramatic, ...
I’ve not seen any of this aspects incorporated into their performances. Therefore, I think it’s rather misleading to label them as “stage dancers”. Not everybody who happens to dance on a stage is a stage dancer.

I met them at Silenzio concert and it was long time ago.
I don't remember they were maestros (performing and teaching) somewhere.

First of all, I'm currently taking classes with them, and I very much admire their pedagogy and skills, so I guess I am what you could call "biased".
What I like about them in general and in this video in particular is... everything really :) Everything they do is connected to the ground and to each other, which produces (I find) a very smooth walk. I like how musical they are, and how their dance is about small details and adornments which you don't necessarily see the first time you watch them.

By the way, I also disagree with the term "stage dancers" for the reasons Lui listed. Or maybe I didn't get what you mean by that (when I hear "stage tango", I imagine the BA stage tango championship where a guy with a crazy outfit is doing gymnastics with a girl with an even crazier outfit). Could you post a video of what you mean by that maybe?

For everything you should have trained eye to see.
In that video they are quite stationary, they don't feel the space with their dance.

I don't know them as travelling teachers and performers.

That sounded a bit like Master Yoda in Star Wars :)
Anyways, I'll try to explain what I meant. It's like music really. I sometimes discover new things / sounds in tracks that I know through and through (or thought I knew). But maybe it's just me and with super chuck-norris-ninja-style ear training, I would hear everything the first time.

This is interesting, even though I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Any particular couple you have in mind that "feels the space with their dance"?
