Dance comp in Philly

Last year I remember posts on a dance comp in Philly. I think it is held in the Hotel at the airport ..Maybe April or May... Does anyone know which comp I am talking about? Cant seem to find it by doing searches. ( I am not referring to the USA Dance comp that is also in Philly in April)

FYI.. few of the airlines in CT are offering round trip to Phily for $103.00... Cant walk away from a deal like that!

Philly Festival! The Fortunas just sent out their materials. It is going to be April 13-15 this year. I think you can get all the materials at phillyfestival.net. My dh took a good number of the pictures that are in the brochure, btw. :)

I'm not sure we'll go this year because NE Regionals are the next weekend and my dh is going to argue two weekends in a row is a bit much, we could save $$, it's an incredibly busy time of year for us, etc. If it were entirely up to me, though, I'd do both!

Unusual that USA Dance would schedule thier comp for the same week-end. Perhaps there was no choice. It will actually works for us.. We can do this comp on the 13th, and on the 14th do the USA Dance.

We have a schedule conflict for the NE regional and plan on going to Chicago in May to qualify for the Nationals. If I am not mistaken this is the first year for a regional in Chicago.

Is anyone going - deadline is 3/15? Does anyone know what the turnout for amateur syllabus events is like? Looks like a decent sized comp for Pro/Am and Pro, but not sure about the Ams...

I'm confused by what you've written, so I'm not quite sure how to help. The NE regional is the USA Dance competition which ChaChaMama mentioned. It's the next weekend, not the next day. Rutgers is holding a competition the same weekend as the Philly Festival.

Yes, I had it wrong. USA Dance is holding a comp in Pittsburgh the next day, but it is not a regional as I had originally thought. And now I know that Philly and Pittsburgh are quite a distance from each other.
 
That's actually what I wrote--Philly is April 13-15 and NE Regionals is the next weekend, April 20-22.

The syllabus latin event we were in last year had 4 couples, I believe.

The open championship amateur events were much larger and VERY high quality. I really would love to go again this year, but the consecutive weekend thing is probably going to be a problem for me, what with the whole job thing and the spousal unit not necessarily wanting to drive up to NJ two weekends in a row thing. (If it were just me, I'd do it, but then, if it were just me, I wouldn't have a partner! I'd enjoy going and spectating too. Hmmm.)
 
Great Amateur events. $1000 scholarship for Amateur Latin & Standard. Sunday features the largest NDCA Amateur, Youth, Juv, Jr event on the East Coast - Very exciting. Great lighting. Great music. 5 times World 10 dance Champions Alain Doucet & Anik Jolicoeur do the show. Saturday night, one of the best. Pictures from last year on site, and links to other pics

Checked out the pictures Cha Cha Mama. They were great. there are other links on the philly Festival web site for other great pictures. Your H did a great job

just checked heat list. i dance at 7:48 a.m. on sunday... niiice.

just observed that there's no VW in the scholarship. huh. interesting. it's a combined closed bronze/silver/gold scholarship, so, well... all i can do is my best. eh.

well, i'm just gonna get up early, get my blood flowing, my body all warm & stretched out, my attitude bright... and go for it. who cares. but sheesh... i need to put my creative juices on notice right now, cuz normally they don't like to get going til MUCH later in the day! ;)
