Dirty Dancing (the movie)

I just saw it this day. I love it. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey were great. Really awesome.

Anyone intersted in dance should see this movie.

Hehe. I saw Footloose and that was good but only the very end is dancing and that kind of pissed me off.

But Dirty Dancing is really about the dance. I mean it has lots of other stuff but it's so much better. XD And I like Swayze more than Kevin Bacon.

And it's pointed something out to me in my dancing. I've always been pretty concerned with my foot work. But after watching Dirty Dancing it's taught me that I've taught my feet how to dance I need to teach the rest of me now. XD

That and that fast footwork that doesn't really make sense doesn't look as good as slower more deatiled movements such as small nuances like a small twist.

I feel like I can start making some real progress now.

Yeah, Larinda! :)

Dirty Dancing is my favourite dancing movie. I still love the oldies with Fred Astaire and adore the Shall We Dance scene from the King and I, but DD rocks.

Yes. I have seen Dirty Dancing, Footloose, and even Shall We Dance. Enjoyed all... :D

I also saw this movie a year or two ago where this girl's mother died and so she goes to live with her father in NYC. She learns hip hop, works through the dynamics of living and having a relationship with a black guy, and even is inspired partly by him to try out for a scholarship at this famous dance/ballet company/school - the name of this escapes me. Anyone know what the movie is called and the name of the dance school/company...?

CentreStage is another of my favourites, but then I LOVE ballet. But it's not so much about ballet as about loving dancing and that last scene when she does all those pirouettes...wow!!!! Have the DVD...I love my DVD dancing movie collection!!! :)

Just got Burn the Floor which is fantastic.

Kinda interesting to bring up Dirty Dancing right now. Jerry Orbach just died a couple of days ago. I loved him.

The Dirty Dancing CD was the first "CD" I ever bought. Where it is now, I have no idea, but I couldn't play it enough back then.

DO WHAT!?!?!?>!?!?

He DIED?????????

WTH????? I knew he retired from Law and Order but I had no clue.....

RIP Lenny Briscoe....... :(

I rented "Dirty Dancing - Havana Nights" which has been discussed very thoroughly here, but in the special features portion of the DVD, there is some very hot Salsa dancing.

8) am i catching up with Pygmalion yet?
