DWTS Season 5 - Week 5

Yeah, I have to agree. Love her, and wish I had her grace and elegance when dancing, but I too get sick of the talk about how amazing Tony is. I mean, to me, she was NOT lucky to get him, because he tends to play things safe and careful and never really does anything that even LOOKS energetic even when he could. Remember Stacey Keibler's freestyle that they hyped up as being so good and then it was slow and careful and afterwards we all looked at each other like, "that was IT?" I'm afraid the same is happening with Jane. People are getting bored with his slow style. Now dont get me wrong, when he dances competitively with Elena and does the slow thing with her, it looks great. But with his stars, not so much so. It just makes them look careful and like they are not getting into it. I dunno. I just know that I get tired of him and Maks getting ticked at the judges for not realizing how GREAT their star is or for not liking their choreography, or for giving critisism. They are judges for goodness sakes. And its a show. Dont take it personally, just use it and get on with it. Also both he and Maks seem to instill into their stars the same attitude, thus all four of them start sounding totally full of themselves and get annoying. (sigh) I'm just not sure as to who I like this season. I like all the ones left now a little, but none of them alot. :(
Jane is 56, so she can't be very mobile, so I don't blame Tony for slowing it down for her.

You're right on about Stacey Keibler. And a similar thing happened with Laila & Maks' freestyle last season. Both ladies were ahead in judges' score just before the freestyle, and they both blew it with a boring and unchallenging routine in which they did nothing but cheesy disco moves. Let's hope none of this season's contestants made the same mistake they did.

Well that may be a part of it too....however, he just seems to do it with whoever he gets, not just the older ones. I guess its just his choreography style and with the right person and the right music, it works. Maybe if the gave him faster music? I have noticed that they seem to favor certain people with faster, peppier music and certain people with slower, feel-good music, him tending to get the slower. Not sure if thats on purpose or not, but I think that it can have alot to do with how the people vote because it has alot to do with how the dance/choreography looks when dancing.

I wonder though after hearing him talk after the last episode if he thinks this way he's showing his student off more. I mean I can't tell what they are thinking it's just that he said it takes four years to get to where these celebrities are trying to go. In my mind, I got to thinking that maybe he knows they need more practice than what they are getting into and doesn't want to overdo anything if this makes any sense at all. I would appreciate that as though I like to be pushed, I also want to be told to calm down and relax. So, to me that's a sign of a good teacher. And maybe he does play it a bit tooo safe, but I keep thinking that's probably what he does with his beginning students. But in that respect, these celebrities are just beginners. While they might be working with a professional and should be able to achieve that much more, Tony still nailed it when he said that it takes a good four years to accomplish all of that the right way. But I understand what you are saying though. It's just that the longer that I dance, the more I notice how long it takes to learn things. So, I understand both sides of the discussion. I really do as I once thought that way about Tony too. ;)

I understand and agree with what you(and Tony) said. But I am comparing him to the other dancers and what they do with their stars who have only danced for a short period of time too. Its obviously possible for them to do more, because I see it done every week by some of the others. They (or so it seems when watching the routines) put more/harder steps in their star's routines to keep them exciting because they know that if the voters get bored they will vote the star off. So all I am really saying is that I wish he would get his stars to do a little more to keep it exciting. I know Jane is older, but she can do more than what he has her doing now. I dunno, just my opinion of course, based on how it looks on tv.

Hey, let's start a "Bring back Albert" movement!

No telling if he would do better if he was still dancing, but I thought he was showing lot of potential and, frankly, excitements in just the two short shows he got to do.

Yeah I can completely understand this too. I would like her to do more as well as she has the capability. Her lines and everything are fabulous. And I think he tried to do more with the Rumba from what I could tell. I don't know at this point why they do things. You would think that if they have a dancing history like Sabrina that they would be pushed to the maximum, but you would also want to push the ones that have the capability without the dancing history to do well also. So, I don't know. All I know is that I wish I had Jayne's body... especially when I get to that age! ;)
