DwtS8 Week 10

Ergh. Nothing I can really do thanks to my shoulder/back/neck pain, so just want to watch DWTS with some minimal filler, and so far, ALL filler. Very annoying.

I haven't watched it, but Bob Saget's new show that was following DwtS must ready stink. Otherwise, ABC wouldn't have padded this 30 minutes of content with an hour and a half of talk, talk and more talk, with a rehash of past dances and bios thrown in.

I didn't go as far as wooh does with her DVR, but I did continue my habit of skipping over as much of Samantha as much as possible.

For whatever reason, the judges where exceptionally hard on Melissa last night, maybe it is because they expect more from her. If that is true, then that is unfair since this is a competition between the dancers and not a judgment on whether or not her performance had fully met her capabilities.

I thought that her Quickstep was just as good as and actually better than Gilles waltz, Shawn’s Argentine and Ty’s Viennese Waltz. And although I thought her ChaCha music was lame, I thought her dancing was better than Gilles’s Salsa (the choreography was atrocious), Shawn’s Jive (not much jive and more DWTS Lindy, lots of flying arms and legs) and Ty’s Samba.

Much kudos to Ty, since he is not as naturally gifted as ther rest but if there was an award for much improved then he deserves it!

Mark and Shawn's tango was the worst that I have ever seen on Stars since its inception! I did not believe that an argentine tango could be more badly interpreted than Edyta's version earlier this season, but Mark proved me ignorant. There was not one single beat of argentine in that tango, anywhere; it wasn't even a good american tango. It was horrid. And the judges gave them 10s.......

Yeah, the AT wasn't great. I tend to lower my expectations when the pros get asked to choreograph\teach dances with which they're not really familiar.

It's Ty's turn to go home, I guess. I'm very impressed with Chelsea as a teacher. She has a great personality and talent to become a good teacher.

Ty being Ty didn't hurt, either. I never thought I'd like a cowboy but here I am, cheering for Ty and Chelsea.

I liked Giles' samba the best. In fact, I thought it was the best dance of the season.

Did anybody else notice how last week Cheryl was chastised for rolling around on the floor at the end of the Rumba, yet this week, Mark stages a knock down, drag out fight in the AT and is awarded a perfect 30?

Yeah, but Shawn didn't jump on top of him after knocking Mark down. ;)

I felt they all were trying too hard last night, nerves setting in and all. Understandable of course. I worry that Shawn may leave instead of Ty. How big a fan base do cowboys have? Bigger than rappers obviously. At lunch in a coffee shop today, I overheard two women arguing over the fact that melissa was a cheerleader and ballet student, and whether that was unfair. I love hearing people talk about the show.

I didn't like Shawn's AT, either, and you guys confirmed that what I saw did not have anything Argentine to it. Didn't understand the 3x10, either.

Gilles' salsa: Dancewise (i. e. his dancing ability) it was the best on the show since they have had salsa on the show. With an authentic salsa choreography and authentic salsa music Gilles could have looked much better, though, because he really has the ability. As always, I thought the music was atrocious, very distracting and an obstacle to the dancers! I re-watched it with the music muted to be able to concentrate on his actual dancing. I thought he moved very well but the dance overall showed that Cheryl is not a salsa dancer. I was not excited about Emmit's mambo with her, either, that the judges thought was great. If I include mambo in this (salsa) category, my favorite dance in this category is still Mario Lopez' mambo with Karina in season 2.

However, Gilles was for me the hottest dancer yesterday! The man is so hot and he looked so elegant and sharp!!!!

Ty and Chelsea were adorable as always! His samba was better than I had expected, he did not look robotic and he was so cute and seemed to have fun on the dancefloor. No, I neither ever spend a thought on liking a cowboy but I also changed my mind ;) Nevertheless, I think it is time for Ty to go home.

It's interesting to me, because I have high school and college friends of mine talking about the show now!!! Most of them now live in the town Shawn comes from, so they are all supportive of Shawn lol. I guess I shouldn't have spoken to quick about how hot Gilles was last night lol! His dance wasn't the greatest ever, but it looked like he was having a lot of fun doing the dance. So, I don't know. They did say that Shawn didn't do her best last night, and they were being as supportive as they possibly could. It will be interesting to see what the outcome is tonight, if there are non-dancers voting that just go by those dances alone, or if they go by the dances overall to get their favorite in the final. ;)
