Equality in everyday situations

I think that the loss of chivalry in the name of equality is nothing more than a cop-out and pure unadulterated horse-hockey.
The MEN that "give up" because of dirty looks, etc need to get a backbone and KEEP ON being respectful/chivalrous regardless of the behaviour of the female of the species.
The WOMEN who act like brats and give men dirty looks for being polite need to take the chip off their shoulders and realize that just because a man holds the door open for you doesn't mean A) he wants to bed you or B) he thinks he's better than you. Get a freaking life! You are an insult to the term feminist.
The men who say "you wanted equality & this is what you get" need to be taken out behind the berm and have some "training" on how to treat ladies. It is never appropriate to mouth off to a lady, no matter how unladylike she seems/acts/etc. Be the bigger man, my friend, learn some manners.
The women who act like all men should grovel at their feet and rush to do their bidding, throw their coats over a puddle, etc ALSO need to get a freaking life. (Paris Hilton, you know who you are) Helloooooooooooooooo... If you abuse their politeness, one day you WILL find yourself opening your own doors, etc.
In short, boys and girls, treat each other with respect.

Actually, some of those "Killer looks" could be because the women feels he is hitting on her and trying to get him to knock it off. A woman used to this kind of chivalry would not react this way - but someone who is not could very well do so. Personally, I am not used to it and so when it occasionally happens it usually makes me feel uneasy, but I don't think my reaction has that much to do with unequality stuff. However, I would much rather see that the guy whose desk is opposite to mine stops opening the window putting me in the draft(sp?) without asking, than having doors opened for me with someone waiting for me to pass before he walks through himself...
