as for the scale...worst mistake I ever made was listening to FP and stopping checking daily...it allowed things to get out of hand...once a day in the morning now...do what works for you

What he advised you is the conventional wisdom of fitness professionals. They all say to weigh yourself only once a week. But I've never been able to restrain myself for a whole week, so I have no personal point of comparison.

with self by your side...

130 would feel great.

I'll join in the fun! Hot coals for me too!!

I also haven't been 130 since high school, and would be absolutely THRILLED to get there again. Although my body composition was totally different. Aside from a few lingering post-pregnancy bits, I'm thinner now than I was then.

A week is a long time to allow "things to get out of hand!" :)

I'm gonna join in.

I'm currently about 68kg (149.6lb), and 5' 4"

I'd like to get down to about 60kg (132lb)

So far, I've given up soft drink, started walking a lot more, and generally cut down on lollies. I'd like to cut out junk food almost entirely (except for special occasions), eat healthier, and exercise a lot more than I have time for at the moment.

I also need to start stretching. I've lost so much flexibility since I stopped doing gymnastics.

I joined a new gym two days after Christmas, and hired a personal trainer. It's been a difficult transition from my previous workout routine. About everytime I come home from the new gym, I wonder what is going to hurt next. It's slowly getting better.

I got on the scale once, my first day. I haven't been on it since, so I don't know if I've lost any weight. But, I can now get into a couple of pairs of dress pants I haven't fit into for over a year and a half.

The trainer is making me keep a food diary. That's an eye-opener, for sure.

I haven't seen 130 pounds since some time in high school or college.

congrats purr..that sounds good...I am not fixated on getting back to an old number...I know I can wear a size nine and look really good in it at a higher weight...b/c I have..and was in much better shape than when i was in high school weighing 130 and wearing a 9...but I would like to get back into the 9...and that is going to take a few months of discipline and then some maintainence...

congrats on your new plan that sounds like it is working

well done, purr. :)

to be honest, i don't give a rat's patootie what i actually weigh. but i do gauge by how i fit into clothes, with sizing being the obvious general guide. and while i would like to experience (mostly for dance purposes) the lithe-and-sinew state i associate with 128-130, i'm not persuaded that's the weight where i would now experience what i want. that's actually just 10 pounds above my anorexic weight, so with the years and different muscle mass since, who knows what the right balance point for me is now?

i prefer to focus on well-being, living foods, exercise, breathing, balance... to have goals that center around health, stamina, energy, strength, and flexibility rather than weight... and the rest i trust will fall into place where it should.

me too...but my ideal is still...I think, about 20 pounds lighter...when I was last 150, I lost most of my chest which was not something dh appreciates...and I was eating like a bird...I was in a size 9 pant and looked... pretty darn GOOD... I would be very happy to get back there...but would settle for a few pounds shy...which is do-able...but, as you say, for me it is about what I can wear

I would like to forget about weight as a number and focus on feeling energetic and forgodsake fitting in to all of the pants I outgrew last summer.

I am going to kill this bottle of merlot, and then tomorrow start trying to flush my system of all the crap I've been putting in it. Tea, juice, smoothies, veggies.

I received a unexpected compliment from a family member two days ago - you look smaller. I also can fit comfortably back into a black and fuschia cocktail dress I bought in 2003.
