I currently have 5'ish teachers I regularly take at least 1 lesson per month. 2 are in one studio together, 2 are in another studio together. All of my teachers are independent though. 1 is a WCS teacher, 1 is a Lindy Hop teacher, 2 are my "primary" ballroom instructors, and 1 is a ballroom teacher I work on show dance/performance related work with. I need to simplify my situation at some point, but I am in a situation where I need to improve and work on multiple things at once (at least, that's how I feel).Just wondering how many have more than one teacher? Not outside coaches, but teacher in the same studio.
I have 3 instructors at the same studio. A weekly double lesson with Main Pro/owner, weekly single lesson with Standard Pro, and weekly single lesson with Latin Pro. Also intermittent coaching at the studio. This is my competition/Showcase studio.Just wondering how many have more than one teacher? Not outside coaches, but teacher in the same studio.
Offering unsolicited advice or comments about someone's weight is definately uncool. As for the weight stuff - yes, be aware that the dance world is a mess in this regard. People are going to bring it up. But it's totally, completely inappropriate for students that are dancing for fun! Body shaming may be part of dancesport, but there is no need for it to be part of hobby dancing. If I were DoWrongRight, I'd set a bright red hard line about that, unless he's OK with dealing with the comments as they come. Hobby dancing is about having fun and feeling good about yourself - it's not boot camp, unless you have sought that and want that. Sure, if you're complaining you get tired before the end of a song, the instructor can discuss ways to improve stamina (dance more, take up jogging, whatever), and you can take the suggestions, or not. But giving you unsolicited diet or weight loss advice, or commenting that you'd look better on the floor if you lost weight is just not OK. Really.
I have two regular coaches. Different studio, both for Latin. I take two lessons per week with main Pro and one lesson with Pro 2.Just wondering how many have more than one teacher? Not outside coaches, but teacher in the same studio.
Yes, definitely change the routine. But I'm still rather concerned about your dizziness. Go to a doctor. Please.
Agree.

My husband and I (am-am competitors) take from both members of dance couple who run their own long-term just-them studio. It's really useful to have both of their perspectives/personalities/teaching strategies -- productive individual differences in support of an overall consistent dance style/philosophy.Just wondering how many have more than one teacher? And it's also right turns plus clockwise rotation, and lots of it. A lot of ballroom dancing usually goes around the room counterclockwise. I always found left turns easier than right, though maybe that's a YMMV thing.Huh. Both of you think this is an unusual level of dizziness, so I guess it is, but doing multiple turns while your partner rotates around you sounds like vomit comet material to me.![]()
Maybe if I complain I will look foolish but that will push this along.Apparently I cannot make any public declarations on the internet without having to return and walk back my statements and eat crow.
We did not / will not meet the deadline. I texted him a "friendly reminder" (we all love those, don't we) early last week and then never heard back. I had lessons scheduled for a day after the due date, so I decided to just let it ride and see what happened. Sometimes I get tired of having to constantly follow up with people (at work and in general). Turns out he had texted me with pricing very late the night before forms were due, but I didn't get the text (I suspect my phone storage was full while ioS software update was happening). So he sent another text the next evening. Hopefully he will have forms ready by lesson on Monday evening.
SIGH.

Kind of like back when I was having trouble getting a response from a comp videographer after a couple weeks of emailing, and as soon as I whined about it on DF, I miraculously received an email within 24 hours. Coincidence? Yeah, sure, could be.It worked! We are making progress.
