reviewed videos from wisc. state worked on the sore spots & being the girl who never thought I would do anything but latin has started standard!! My coach is pretty convincing i guess...it's gonna take a bit to get used to but i kinda like it already:cool:

Lol--the one thing I made clear in my intro was I've done Standard, I hate it, the best finish I've ever had was sixth of seven, and I am not doing it again! (He actually even asked "Were you just doing it to help with the Smooth?") He was totally fine with that.

I get the feeling we're going to spend a few more lessons on the basics ...

As predicted, we hit the basics again in our WCS lesson. We seem to be too quick in starting. DH is working on prepping on the "&a" before the start so that the follower knows what to expect on the 1. I am working on settling into the left hip on the last step of the anchor so that I'm ready to go on the 1 and not before. I also worked on shaping my center on tuck turns ... I tend to use my shoulder instead of my center.

In ballroom, we continued work on the waltz ... keeping our centers aligned, swinging the right hip up to the partner, hovering, and (for me) waiting for the lead. I think we made a little progress since the previous lesson ....

After we finished our ballroom lesson, the WCS teacher "borrowed" me for a moment ... apparently her student wasn't convinced that something was really leadable, so she led me through it ...

Worked on rumba Friday. I prefer doing smooth and/or standard, I just find them so much more fun, and more "me" to work on, but I've got these super pretty latin shoes I never get to wear! Anyway, my hips do not go where they're supposed to. Like midway through, there's something going the wrong way, and it's so ingrained that I don't even know I'm doing it. It's very annoying. Maybe I'll just get my pretty latin shoes resoled and wear them not dancing....

hated intl foxtrot a small bit less today...and he didn't seem nearly as forlorn over my inadequacies...now,they were still there...I am under no delusions...but I do think a small bit of progress was made...however fleeting

Lately, Waltz and Tango have been going very well. At the particular time and day that we've been working on technique, there have been fewer people in the studio, allowing me to play some of my favorite Waltz tunes, at great length. And then for much of the second hour, I like it when we just dance it out, non-stop, song after song!

Finally had my first one since Dec with a brand new teacher who is great. It was really starting over from scratch again with basics but thats ok it was a sign of good things to come.

today was one of those days where being pushed was a good thing b/c it opened a door to what it could really be...and that means it is close enough to reach

technique...blahhh. samba..cha cha..jive. Then standard at end of lesson...starting with some waltz, i like it :o good lesson but i was exhausted..

lol...I feel ya...yesterday we had to stand in fron of the mirror and practice neck stretching...and we have both concluded that God was not paying proper attention when creating my proportions...shrug...it's a never ending losing battle...thankfully I seem to have an affinity for those

My coach was so pleased with our recent breakthroughs (including yesterday evening). Sometimes, de repente (suddenly), it seems like you've reached a new level on different aspects of what you are working on. (In this regard, technique in Waltz and Tango.)

But truth be told, it's not "sudden": it's after hours and hours and hours of learning, drilling, and practicing. And sometimes it's not you that first notices the improvement, but others...

:)

A trip back to syllabus standard to make my open smooth dancing better.

It's long overdue and likely to be an extended trip.

Back muscles are sore today!
