How are your practices going?

GOOD JOB, WELL DONE.

Ready to get some good practice in tonight and this weekend. Lots of stuff to drill in prep for upcoming comp, and i finally have some free time. yay!

Late night practice on Friday again for me. We only worked for about 2 hours and a lot of it was working on our connection. We talked about entering the tri-state comp in Stamford but unfortunately it's out of his budget at the moment. Considering going to a much smaller single day comp in the NYC area coming up this summer. Still a lot of stuff to work on, and we haven't done nearly enough rounds really to compete yet anyway especially in the Paso Doble. 1/2 of our Paso feels like a struggle at times with us fighting each other in the choreography... and not in an appealing way.

Just a frustrating night after a particularly stressful week.

Long solo practice last night. I took my time running through all the dances I do as a leader, and all the dances I do as a follower.

Actually was able to practice yesterday! was not 100%, but at least was able to do something. Spent a little time on the details of the basics that my pro suggested, and then walked through my closed patterns and open rhythm routines to make sure i've got the little changes we've made down. Only had enough energy to really push through Cha, rumba, and swing. Bolero and mambo, more marking that focusing on the dynamics of movement.

all dances....starting to get a feel for what is being asked of me...so looking forward to putting in the time to finally feel at home again somewhere while still not resting in complacency...but looking forward to feeling less lost

How does one get out of their head and start really dancing the steps? Like feeling the music? I get concerned about being so perfect!

My coach and my AP both told me this week to "listen." And not to the music, to the lead. So AP danced with his headset yesterday, and I did not dance with mine, and he liked the result. So the music was felt, I responded to his lead and not "the counts," and neither of us fell down. Progress!

Oh boy... After spending all this money to put in a dance practice floor in my house..
Went down to the space today and was a little dead mouse on the floor, if that is any indication as to how much I am practicing...

Working 7 days a week right now(accountant), and that is my excuse!

Fairly long practice last night, trying to really pay attention to use of the working leg in Latin for more power and straightening actions, and of course that's transferable whether I'm leader or follower. Switched to Standard as a leader, and tried to pay particular to the way I'm supposed to carry my upper shoulders/back, but I was somewhat hampered by my chicken-wing elbow.

over here, just trying to get new choreo since last comp (late jan) into decent order without pro who is away the next few weeks, so that it doesn't look like a hot mess for next com (late this month)

Practices have been up and down in both quality and intensity of late... motivation is largely absent post-comp and post-goals discussion with pro last week... had a few forced days off (in addition to my planned post-comp break) due to a nasty bug that had me off work and in bed for two days... and some practices have been amazing, where I feel so balanced - loving the way I'm using my feet and legs, and how that frees me up to really stretch and work through the upper body - but then the next day, I can't find it and it's work. Sigh.

Hoping the that the up and down practices plus moderate dance blahs mean another breakthrough is on the horizon, because that seems to be my pattern.

Big difference last week to this one...:( I practiced more last week, and it showed in class...and last week I felt so balanced I felt like I was spotting more and not afraid to spot, feeling my feet against the ground more...and this week...one day I tried to practice and I felt so out of balance I just stopped after 15 minutes. :/ My second practice this week was a little better but still did not feel as pulled together as last week. (when I read your post FancyFeet I felt like OMG yes! that's how I feel - even though my levels and yours are surely worlds apart!)
