How many dances

As there are very few women where I go Salsa dancing, we get a lot of leaders who hog the ladies.

If I ever end up at a lead-heavy venue (I can always dream :lol, I'd refuse to be hogged. Why throw away an opportunity to dance with as many leads as you want? (When it comes to dancing, I'm promiscuous to the extreme -- I always aim to dance with all the leads present.)

The norm here is to dance more than 1 dance with a lead/follow... but what we do is keep on dancing when we both enjoy it or stop (at the kind and polite request of one of the parties, as in "Thanks for the dance!")

I don't have any pre-determined limit on the number of dances I'll do with a particular woman. To me, it primarily depends on how good of a dance connection we seem to have, the quality of the songs, and the length of the songs. I'll note, though, that if there is a live band that takes an extended break between songs, then it's sometimes a bit awkward to continue past 2 songs/breaks in a row.

If I'm dancing with a good friend to DJ music, then it's not uncommon for me to dance a complete Salsa set with her, especially when the DJ is rotating between different types of music and we don't know when Salsa will come on again (so that means it could be 5 or 6 songs in a row with one woman). I've done that only a couple of times with strangers, mainly if we happen to be in a place without many other decent dancers, and it develops into kind of an "unspoken understanding" that we'll be dancing with each other for much of the evening -- even without a real romantic connotation to it.

One other factor can be how many other friends we happen to have at the venue. If there are several other women with whom I know I want to dance at that venue, then I'll keep the series of dances with each woman shorter than I otherwise would. Same goes for when I'm aware of the fact that the woman knows several guys at the place.

Its because Sabor has never danced with me Big10 :wink: But, now that I know his thoughts on this matter :roll: after two songs, I will just have to give him the flick, with one of the seven veils I will be wearing :twisted:

The only time I go consecutive songs dancing with the same lady is when the songs are so alike and the DJ doesn't practice the one second break between songs that I don't notice one has ended and the other one began.
