Assuming that the described steps are man's, man executes either Alemana turn (Clockwise Turn) or Spiral (Antri-clockwise turn) on man's R(2), L(3)macha said:HOW do you do a two-beat basic underarm cha-cha turn? I've tried everything that I personally know of- which isn't much. I worked for two hours on it yesterday.
Right foot back, then up-side, cha-cha-cha,
Left foot forward, then back-side, cha-cha-cha,
... and then?

We painstakingly dissected me tonight, going as slowly as possible, and we figured out what I was doing. I was rushing through the cha-cha-cha movement and right into the spin. I didn't complete the basic before doing the simple spin. I just got way ahead of myself "trying to scramble to keep up".... when I was already too far ahead![]()
ALWAYS LOOK EYE, DANIEL-SAN, AAAALWAYS LOOK EYE. D'oh!
And I got so obsessed working on that, that I screwed up what usually was a really nice basic waltz with quarter turns. But then later we crashed the "old people country dance place" where my parents were, did an impromptu exhibition around the floor to riotous acclaim (remember these are like eighty-year-old shuffling zombies now- no offense, but really- you should see 'em..), and J didn't freeze up. It was a lot of fun. Now I need a wine and an ativan, and a long nap
