Looking at cleavage

Too little for sure. I think it ties in a lot to the lack of personal responsibility. If you're not responsible for your actions, there's nothing pushing you to respect others, as it's not your fault. sad.

In college I puzzled over why people in crowds at say, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, behaved as they did, when clearly they would not behave the same way in other circumstances.

Because, sadly, people without real goals/values are like sheep. It's the reason for practically everything that is lacking/wrong w/ our society. It has been said before in this thread...lack of; respect, a strong moral code, and a care for something/someone outside of our own little world is why we are in the state/s that we are in...personally, professionally, nationally, globally.

Bit of a blanket statement AH? Although I agree with the respect, and outside caring aspects, it eems to me that 'strong moral codes' are one of the biggest problems... but what does this all have to do with cleavage???

A friend of mine pointed out that it was really easy to understand why folks behave that way: because exhibitionism and voyeurism are highly prevalent and manifest themselves one way or another in all kinds of places. Sometimes the manifestation is more extreme than others.

In Brave New World Revisited, Aldous Huxley called it "herd poison". Place us into a mob and we lose our individuality and individual judgement and follow the mob mentality. Heck, at the end of the 1968 Newport Pop Festival, I helped to pull the chain link fence down and assisted others in crossing over it to get to the performers' stage (Jefferson Airplane -- "Not 'White Rabbit'! I'm sick of that song!").

Those people would not normally be exhibitionists. That's herd poison taking over!

has to do with how to handle seeing it respectfully

Well...um...the world would be better off both with more strong moral codes and with more cleavage???:)

Fear, pressure from overpopulation, scapegoatism to get public to ignore problems at home. Yeah, lots more likely reasons.

Hey, I have no problem with morality, I'm a strong proponent of it. Just a proponent of my morality, and even though I think I'm right, I know that THAT very view is what can cause problems.
