New York Dance Festival, Feb 25

anyone else planning to dance this sucker? i am. it's am/am and pro-am only, i believe... correct me if i'm wrong (sure somebody will.)

www . nydancefestival.com

with increasingly typical horror, i note that i must pay for admission to the ballroom in addition to paying to dance my events. since i'm pro-am, that means paying my teacher's admission price as well as my own.

so if i dance one 5-dance event, plus pay two day-of matinee admission tickets, i'm looking at ... a pile of money. bleh.

this particular practice galls me like no other, but i understand it's completely common in the pro-am world.

grinning and bearing for now.

yay!

i note with relief that, according to the tentative schedule, i may not in fact be dancing at 5:30 AM as usual.

now, to find a dress.

this will be my third comp. so far i've been renting them, but the prices are going up and i'm getting a better and better of idea of what kind of dress i want to have made.

the deadline for this comp is Friday - anybody else going?

i'm trying to wade through my event choices now.

We will most likely be there, since it's local

That same weekend, there is another NDCA competiton offering $250 for first place open amateur, and cash prizes for top 3 places, I believe. Just thought I would mention it, in case you might be interested. We thought about going, but my partner is out of town that weekend.

I'm going to try to pop in to see this one. I'll be down that way...GJB...we may as well just hang together all weekend!

On a somewhat tangential note, I noticed that Philly Festival in April is offering $1000 scholarships in Open Amateur Latin and Open Amateur Standard in the A division.
