I think this has been very clear since BYU.. and absolutely every single comp after that

I haven't seen them dance for a long time, maybe even since last Nationals, since they didn't do the MAC, NE Regionals or Manhattan. So the way they're dancing now was a big surprise... They definitely look like US Champions now.

What a terrible result for Craig though, whose dancing I really, really love. They must be crushed!:(

Enjoyed the comp thoroughly, quite grateful to Wendi and Mario for organizing three beautiful comps in NJ, it's so convenient for those who lived in the tri-state area. For that matter, MAC and Manhattan championships are also our favorites.

Regarding open amateur standard, with the exception of Craig and Katya, congratulations are due to all those in the final. It seems there were at least five happy couples out of six in the final that night.

Speechless to learn the placing of Craig and Katya, really enjoyed their dancing that night. Though I'm respectful to judges decision, the result kind of reminds me about their first comp in US where they were even left out of the final in Ohio Star Ball ... That time they were new to the US dance circuit. This time however, they just got their personal BEST result in Blackpool two month ago. I'm the first to admit that my opinion about the final of amateur standard are biased since I spent most of my time watching only my two favorite couples, that factor alone will determine my take is not impartial. (I have the luxury of doing so since I'm not a judge) I've never seen Craig and Katya danced with such gracefulness. I think that came from within, from their newly found confidence after the Blackpool, though Katya's injury may still prevent them from performing at their best.

Will someone share some video clips about the open amateur standard final ? really like to see the final again.

I post some video clips about the comp on youtube but can't post them here since I'm new to the board, send me an email at [email protected] if you would like see the video clips and can post the links.

Rz,

I agree. I think Craig is the best male am dancer in the US and their placement is shocking. I too thought immediately of the OSB result they had a few years ago. I would be interested to see the marks to see which judges disliked them so much. I mean to be 4th, some of the judges had to have marked them as low as last in that final and that is jsut incredible to me. While by no means should they have beaten Egor and Katya (and maybe not Pasha and Inna because they danced better), I am not sure how they ended up behind Radek/Paulina.

Again, I didn't see the final, but the quality of the dancing in the semis, which I did see (and I watched all the couple who made the finals in the semis) was not consistent with the ultimate result. I'd love to hear more comments from those who did see the final on why this happened.

I now understand some of the previous statements on this board about couples being very picky about the judging panels at comps they attend - they really cannot afford a result such as this one... It's pretty damaging to say the least.

Oh yes, and thank you to the organizers - both Mario and Wendi are just great! And Wendi looked gorgeous:) The floor was a bit small but it was overall a great comp!

Kind of bizarre that the couple that got 1st place in Open Amateur Standard at the NJ March competition didn't even make the semifinal.

Regionals was weaker, I guess.

You must be thinking of someone else. The last time E&K were beaten in the US I think was OSB and that was by a Canadian couple.
Regionals in NJ, Am results.. not world class results.. look up couple that won.

I'll save you some time :
134 -- Daniel Vesnovskiy (Atlantic Ballroom - Brooklyn) and Anastasia Danilova (Atlantic Ballroom - Brooklyn) - couple who was 2nd in Youth
