Ohio Star Ball 2015

Well, if you get bored Saturday or Sunday, come over to the collegiate portion and glance in, we'll be toiling away all day :)

Based on the last 4 years of going, it won't sell out either night but while you may get ground level seats for Friday, only the balcony seats may be available on Saturday, up with us crazy college students :D

Anyone know how to access o2cm entry lists? The website used to have an additional link you could click on to see who all is entered but with the redo of the website I've noticed that you can't get the lists unless you have a direct link provided by the organizer. I didn't do my own entries for the NCDC and I would like to check on them, plus it would be nice to see whom I'll be competing against.

I see that there is going to be live streaming available through Dance Network, but I haven't been able to get any details. It seems that Dance Network is a new entity and this might be their first product. Am I missing something? In particular, I'm hoping there will be an archive of the live stream available--I can't actually watch OSB while I'm at work.

Dance Network is launching soon - it's an actual online channel - will be on roku, online, etc. started by David Medeiros and one of his pro-am students. They'll be showing all things dance related, including original programming. You'll subscribe to the channel, just like Hulu, etc. They'll be streaming all of OSB live for $30 (which is WAY better than when you needed to pay per session with one of the video vendors). With that, I think maybe you get a trial subscription. You're supposed to register your email and they'll be sending info the week of the event, I think. I'm pretty sure I read that with your subscription, everything will be available on demand later as well.

So does that mean no America's Ballroom Challenge for this year's OSB? (I mean, I'm guessing we would have heard about it by now if so.)

The NCDC page hints at America's Ballroom Challenge happening but doesn't help that much: "Ohio Star Ball may be televised this year", followed by the dress code of being fancy-pants for the professional evening events.

But does that indicate knowledge on their part, or simply copying from last year's site?

Amusingly, I had a 0.1 second anxiety feeling about OSB, and I'm not even going. Three students from the studio are going this year, two of them are seasoned competitors. The third is doing extremely well, but hasn't been competing as long and this will be her first time there--or at any large NDCA competition. It might have been a momentary empathy reaction for her.

"Excellent dancing" wishes to all of you who are competing!!

There will be no PBS TV recording of events this year at the Ohio Star Ball. Regarding Dance Network, the listed scope of events to be covered are Pro/Am, Am/Am, and Collegiate events. If interested, there are links to the Dance Network web site and DN sign-up for OSB streaming events at the OSB web site (Latest News). (I have no affiliation with the Dance Network.)

If anyone would like two tickets to Sunday, I won't be attending that session. Long shot, I know, but I thought I'd offer! PM me if interested.
