I can't stand coconut. But I'm a sucker for anything pineapple. And rum helps, too. 8) :lol:

Just coconut and lime. But it's yummy. And eating the raw young cocnut is such an experience. MMMMMM You can get them on the side of the road in Bali (sans lime). Gawrsh. I had two of them at this temple place (outside the temple gates).

You are making me pine DM! :( I used to love going down to the ferry. Dad would buy fish and then we would go and get a coconut. Delicious coconut milk and then scooped out coconut flesh. It's been so long. But that was delicious, even without any lime.
 
One wouldn't be able to enjoy all that fabulous Thai, Indian or Indonesian food if one didn't like coconut. I don't really care for it in confection, but I like it in ethnic dishes and use it quite often.
 
drinking, this thread is about drinking? I think I had too much tonight. I almost love my partner.. that's definitely too much alcohol :)
 
I'm drinking a rum and coke right now. I'm not very fond of this brand of rum, though -- it has a slight aftertaste that reminds me of sneaker soles. It's supposed to be some chic chic brand ("Pyrat" -- comes in a bottle with a cork stopper and an inexplicable Chinese character that means "west" on it...I think they were going for the character for "alcohol" but accidentally left off the "water" radical...) but it just doesn't work for me. I'm usually pretty darn happy with basic Cruzan, Barcardi or Mt. Gay "Eclipse."
 
Speaking of Chinese and alcohol, Laura- did you ever try Mao Tai-shu when in China? That stuff'll put hair on the balls of your feet! :lol:
