pre-competition disorder

Lol, one comp the organizers messed up entries between me and another of my pro's students, I got signed up for standard. Lol - yea, not happening.

Is that a good thing that studio was packed? Last lessons before major event I opt for as uncrowded lesson as possible
I love uncrowded studio practice, although right before a comp where alot of people are in my rounds, a packed studio forces me to stretch my brain for floorcraft, which ultimately worked out, because the floor was PACKED at the comp. It worked out in the end.

Pre-comp disorder of trying to ignore nearly tore arch tendons,,,went well, until the first round...Pro/Friend ran into me, one hour before my rounds, told me about KT tape (miracle working stuff for him and knee tendons) he ran to his bag and wrapped my foot,,,,unlike a regular type of thing. Helped with the nerves and the pain.

^^If I were in your shoes, this conversation would not be pretty... this kind of thing would send me into a rage, and would definitely not happen twice. My sympathies.

Yes, the ever more than quiet directly focused CHAT happened, pre-comp and at the comp and AFTER I was done. He got the point. Clearly.

That stuff is MAGIC! Really appreciated what it did to make my pulled hamstring walkable.

Yes DI, the KT tape is now in my dance bag and my snow sport instructor bag and my home and my workout "magic bag of tricks"...Retaped foot after self-education on You Tube....and while I need to seriously rest the active/injured tendon...WHAT A HUGE DIFFERENCE....whew. Love the different colors.

KT makes my life possible. I use it for everything! Rocktape also has an awesome video showing how to tape just for posture support. It's awesome as well!

Well, this is technically middle-of-the-competition disorder, but two days in a row, I've been waking up half an hour before I'm supposed to...sigh. Those few minutes are precious!

This time because of the howling wind outside. Oh well, more time to wrestle with my hair this morning.

Will have to look that up for DH!thank's for posting that.

yesterday, Wake up at 5 a.m., get it together for "kids" day at the California Open in Costa Mesa.
Motor slowly around house.
Collect snacks and jackets for DH, myself and GS #2.
Hope GS is on time to our house with his mommy and her BF.
Coffee, I need COFFEE and there is none, not even instant. I don't drink it often but today I will!
Pack car up while DH reads paper. How's this work? Feels like swim and water polo meets of years ago!
GS and his family show up. YIPPEEEE.
It's still dark outside, and GS is quite awake and loud!!!!
Books for reading,,,check.
Shoe bag....check.
Jackets....check.
His clean dance clothes, note to self and his mommy " PLEASE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MARY, STAY CLEAN SHIRT AND PANTS....STAY CLEAN""
GS - is quite chatty and challenges everyone in my car about anything they say. ARRGHHHH.
Get to venue,,,relatively earlier than expected, head across street for breakfast for his family.
Back to venue, GS changes clothes, and comes out saying, "I don't have a belt"...since when? you always wear a belt, even when you don't need to,,,your pants belt is part of you since age 4...where's your belt....."his reply"....uhhhhhhhhhhh, at home on my other jeans. YIKES.
Let's just say this, he's long and lean and even skinny jeans are too big around his waist, as we all note that with every step the pants are sliding.
The adventure has started,,,but his mommy, checks the inside of the dress pants and WELLA WHEW, they have an elastic pull tab to tighten the waist.
THANK GOD! She pulls as tight as she can and rebuttons his pants.
THERE, now he will stop focusing on it.
Where's your jacket GS#2...."uhhhhhhh, at home....."...ok then.
Head in. Meet up with Pro and Pro-family members.
Cheer "Z" on and he does so much better this year, that even he knows it.
The day goes on and the space becomes overwhelmed with kids and their families, coaches and teachers....etc etc....to the point of rudeness but oh well.
Awards table set up, collect his awards, head outside,,,,as he changes shoes....there is one shoe in the bag and where's the other? oh gripes.
I go back down to the venue, squeeze past all the people back to our original table. Say excuse me repeatedly and, yes, crawl, under the table between real legs and chair legs...and WELLA,,,there is the lost sneaker. The new sneaker(s) we just got for him.
Call me "hero, nana".
Which, yes, I force GS#2 to say exactly that upstairs outside before I give him his shoe back. Good Lord.
Drive home, "Z" passes out in the back of the car as all of us generally chat. Thank you Car Pool Lane for a quick drive.
Home. GS changes clothes and uhhhhh, "where's your Disneyland sweatshirt son".....oh gripes, not again!
Call Pro who is still there. Pro heads to ballroom, checks original table,,,,YES! it's there,,,under a pile of costumes..Pro
collects sweatshirt.
GS, takes his trophy, stickers, stuff, heat sheet to show his other Nana,,,,and is miffed he can't stay with us for the rest of the day.
Say bye-bye,,,,and embrace......the quiet.....after a noisy day at the venue. Time for a "chill-out"...evening!

Pro and I will do comps in groups, usually 3 comps that are 3 or so weeks apart.
Last week-ends comp was just horrible, I forgot the routines and got too stressed to follow... It was a true crash and burn.

This week preparing for next comp is all just rounds over and over. The rounds are being done at all sides of the studio so that I can follow regardless of where we are on the floor. They are being danced full out to help with me maintaining my frame while fatigued.
After 2 doubles, yesterday and today my legs are like rubber, but I feel considerably more prepared for this one coming up.

One month left until first comp in a year and a half for me and new DP...his first comp in a non-syllabus division, harder routines than we've ever done, and attempting to get three styles (8 dances) ready in 3 months.

No worries?

Just a little bit nervous. Most of our routines are nowhere near being able to do nicely to speed (tripping over each other, screwing up turns, etc.)

But I'm super excited...can't wait to tan and do pretty hair and stuff.

I am about to make my Open "debut" in less than 2 weeks and I have a sinus infection! Started as a cold. I am trying everything to clear it up, but I have massive headaches and am so fatigued. On the bright side, I feel too miserable to be too anxious and am just trying to hunker down, reserve energy, practice smart and stay focused. I hope this is gone before I have to fly.

Coming off the tail end of one, and I empathize so hard! Hope you get better soon!
