Rebound/musicality

However, the level of information in this forum is very heterogeneous, if you know what I mean.
Which is precisely why alternative explanations using other means may assist understanding.

@JournalInTime is correct about lack of standardisation, and the requirement for further descriptive detail. Personally I find the Spanish terminology a 'hook' (not 'look' - grrr, spell checker) to existing information I've collected, but sometimes I want multiple descriptions, sometimes in other languages, and other data.

If it's not clear, then there are alternative clarifications.

It isn't highly standardized, even in Spanish among Argentines. Invitee teachers..
Every style has its own terminology. Just by the way the terms are used, you can tell which camp the dancer comes from. Too few tango dancers care about styles, pedigree, biography, divergent ideologies, tradition, and naming.

..or is it a philosophical thing?
Good question! I feel recognized and at the same time somewhat misunderstood. Please allow me a more personal answer! And I needed these three sentences in advance to organize my thoughts:
I think my attitude, if I'm being completely honest, also reflects a certain contempt for those who take tango too seriously, those who see it as a substitute, and those who are personally offended if their style isn't appreciated. I, on the other hand, consider myself a technically well-trained actor: I take on a role and can simultaneously distance myself again. And more importantly, I can switch roles and play hide-and-seek.
And yes, you've really hit the point: it's philosophy. I feel the same way in philosophical forums or at academic meetings where the ultimate truth and the Holy Grail are being wrestled with. I taught History of natural sciences for five years at university. What I wanted to teach the students was critical distance. Sometimes this philosophical school contributes new insights, sometimes the countercurrent does. Philosophies also are just roles and costumes in the world's theater. (Of course a more bloody theatre).
I think you know my profound connection to music. That's why I laugh at all the superficialities of the individual tango styles. But this also allows me to deconstruct them. And one more thing: since I can no longer shine on the dance floor due to physical limitations, I'm looking for a position where I can (physically) withdraw without losing contact with the community. I'm now interested in how to detrain from tango. In martial arts, the higher levels are no longer achieved on the mat either.

we reached a not too dissimilar conclusion from opposite directions then. Since I don't like where any of the styles ended up, I choose to disregard all of them. I find there is more clarity in researching what's the best way to do a movement, interpret music, or convey emotion from basic principles. But I'm more interested in creating a physical and practical effect.
