Just because a person is interested in tango doesn't mean they care about every other Argentine folk dance. Frankly, I couldn't care less about the chacarera.

But it has no place at a milonga, it isn't even slightly related to Tango
but more to European ContraDance which itself is reputed to be related
to English country dance.
Tango is an urban dance, Chacarera a rural dance.
Chacarera seems to be being used as a promotional tool
to further an argentine cultural identity at home and abroad.
If I wanted to do country dance I could go to a folk and country dance
society here but I don't and I won't.
