Seen Any Good Movies Lately?

Not to give too much away, "Letters to God" is about a family dealing with a catastrophic illness as well as recent tragic accident. The young son begins to write letters to God. Their mailman doesn't know what to do with them so he takes them to a local church. This postman has his own challenges and in the process of "delivering" the letters his life is dramatically changed.

While there is a deeply spiritual undertone, I think the "feel good" atmosphere would appeal to most anyone.

To Pygmalion...

Saw the preview. That looks either hilarious or really bad. Hoping for the former. I plan to see it, too.
Pygmalion, some people think that if Steve Carrell and Tina Fey were less talented, it might have all fallen flat (in inspired casting). But they are apparently very good together...

I wonder if you saw it at one of the big cineplexes that I used to go to when I lived in your area. (Cupertino = home of Apple!)

I wonder, too, if they still have that Yoshinoya Beef Bowl in or near Cupertino. I used to get the chicken bowl...

Those in L.A. for the comp will be able to go to one of those. Besides that, good Japanese food downtown, in and out of Little Tokyo...

There is a new AMC theater with Imax at Cupertino square on North Wolfe. Its great! Thats where I saw Alice...
They still have Yoshinoya Beef Bowl, but I'm vegetarian so I've never been. Even their veggie bowl has chicken stock.:(

hereKittyKitty, thankfully there is lots of vegetarian fare out there in the SF Bay area...

Thanks for mentioning Wolfe, a familiar place name which suddenly triggers memories of extremely good weather (requiring no air conditioning in my car or apartment)--and lots of things to do and see...

Think of me when you make it to places like Santa Cruz, Monterey, Marin, Sausalito, Napa, Sonoma, and especially Mendocino!

I re-watched Sense & Sensiblity tonight. The version done by Emma Thompson with Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant. I have to say I really enjoy everything about this version -- the acting, the scenery, the interpretation...I love it. :D

CANI, I agree--that's a fabulous film. Very much a favorite from the 1990's...

It's one of my top 3 favorite movies! I love the soundtrack by Patrick Doyle. You forgot to mention Hugh Laurie who steals the scenes he's in even with his short screentime. ;)

You are right -- all of the actors in this movie were incredible -- absolutely top notch to my mind. And the music -- yes. I was particularly noticing a brief section by the orchestra that just perfectly set a scene. :D

I love that moviie. But then again, I find it difficult to come up with a JA adaptation I don't like.

There was a story on NPR about her recently which talked about how much more famous and successful she is, long after death, than she was in life. Interesting stuff, to me, at least.
