Showtime Dance Shoes

So the company changed hands? That might explain a lot.

There's a big difference between very small adult sizes and very small children's sizes. Very few people wear very small adult sizes; everyone is a small child size at some point.

Ordering in advance isn't always workable for children, whose feet grow in somewhat unpredictable spurts. On the other hand, making the sales nonreturnable is fine. There aren't a lot of styles and colors even available for children, so that would be a nonissue.

It sounds like Showtime has now specialized in a particular market - a ladies' couture style market where high service levels and a large percentage of returns is expected, and supported through high prices and high margins.

That's not what I need, so I guess I'll turn to other channels that specialize in the children's market and try to get them to stock higher quality shoes instead.
I understand your point. What I was talking about are things that were going on around 2003. I guess at the heart of the matter would be if they ordered a whole line of shoes in that model, how long would they sit on the shelf? Perhaps there's a lot of other people like you in which case it might be good to call them and talk to them about it.

FYI, clearance leather shoes from IDS are not worth the discount. Just purchased IDS leather women's practice shoes on clearance from showtime and one shoe was already peeling when I opened the box. Wore them because I needed shoes and the other one peeled just as badly within 20 minutes of having them on. Carrie at showtime was great and is sending me a new Lycra pair (thank you Carrie!). I reached out to IDS and they said that all new shoes are made from leather, but older models are made from mixed material (aka not real leather).

Yes, and sometimes shoes are on clearance because they didn't sell very well. :) Of course, Showtime is good about working with people who received something that was below standard, and making it right.

Good point- I didn't think anything of it because there were only small sizes available. Thought I lucked out since few people have similar sizes to my munchkin feet but it may have been the shoe itself!

That being said, if you have munchkin feet, as you put it haha, you are more likely to be able to get a good deal, and it probably is worth asking what they have available on special.

The other ones I’m considering are the International Heather, split sole, black air mesh. Anyone have experience with those?
Because I already have experience with International, I’m inclined to order these in a US 8.5...but I’d like to know if they tend to fit more like the sandals or more like the court shoes...and if they stretch...and if they’re supposed to fit as snugly as comp shoes.
International is our favorite brand. They always have a hugging fit, and the cushioned sole just adds to the comfort.
