Side of bed dictates sex of child?

ok... here's the question.

Does the side of the bed that the father sleeps on dictate what sex the child will be?

i've heard that if the father sleeps on the right side of the bed (at or around time of conception) then you're more likely to have sons. left side will give you daughters.

for those of you who have children.... what is your experience with this?

Note: when standing at the foot of the bed (where your feet go), looking at the bed, the right side of the bed would be on your right.
 
eh....my parents had me and my brother - as far as i know, my dad hasn't switched side at all - so that's....50/50??

can you confirm that? at the time that you were conceived what side of the bed was your dad on?

i know for me i usually sleep on the right side of the bed and i have all boys and no girls.
 
Oh please, let's attempt to be scientific at least. The bed thing is an old wives' tale. Check out the the "Choosing Your Baby's Sex FAQ" at childbirth.org for a discussion of the scientifically-based but not-quite-scientifically proven "Shettles Method":

my dad has always slept on the left side of the bed - hasn't changed in 30 years!
 
ok... well that helps.

what i've heard is that if the father sleeps on the right side then there's an 85% chance of having sons. but on the left there's a better chance of having a daughter.

so if you parents had one of each and your father sleeps on the left then that helps support the theory. sleeping on the left will give you a better chance of having daughters.
 
all i have is statistics... the people i've talked with. no scientific proof. of course i haven't talked with that many people yet. the guy that told me sleeps on the right side of the bed and he has 2 sons. another guy i talked with slept on the left and had a daughter and then 10 years later had 2 sons while sleeping on the right.

i'm just trying to gather more "real data" to see how true the trend is.
 
The side of the bed thing is a complete myth!

Now, the position that the couple has intercourse in when they conceive may influence the sex of the child, this is due to the scientific fact that Y-chromosome sperms swim faster but but are weaker and die off faster than X-chromosomes. But I'm not going to go into details here, read the link I posted above.

To be scientific enough I have to know how you define right/left?
Is it while laying in bed on your back. Or is it when standing at the foot end looking to the top end where the pillows are. :smile:

I always have a problem with whats right and left. You must help med to define whats the natural viewpoint in this case. :lol:

but maybe the side of the bed does have something to do with it... look at it this way.

if a man sleeps on the right side of the bed then he may have a tendancy to sleep on the left side of his body (facing out). so perhaps sleeping on the left side of your body can influence the x,y count of sperm in the body thus introducing more y sperm producing a son. (y's make sons right?)
