snap, crackle, pop, what is currently creaky/sore?

I've been recovering from frozen shoulder in both shoulders. Fortunately, this malady coincided with the Covid outbreak when few were dancing anyway, so it was good timing. At its worst for both shoulders, I could only raise each arm forward to only about 45 degrees from vertical. Now when laying down, I can get my left arm to completely touch the floor raising it overhead (which is equivalent to vertical if I were standing). The right arm is getting close. At its worst, there was no possibility of holding a reasonable standard frame. I'm getting to the point where it's presentable, but still has a ways to go. With my level of progress, I'm confident I'll make the full recovery.

I feel your pain. I too had frozen shoulder in both shoulders. It was astonishingly painful. It was 2 years before I was fully recovered. It must feel wonderful to make progress. Best wishes.

I may have gone a tiny bit overboard with the toe contraptions. I removed them just a while ago, and my feet are now cramping like crazy.

Ouch!! (I was looking for an ouch emoji, but don't see one here.)
That’s why I love GIFs!

Stupid bunion on one foot and stupid Morton’s Neuroma on the other. So I stopped at Walgreens for a bunch of toe contraptions.

Which are helping a lot. But they look ridiculous. (If my sister ever finds out, I will NEVER live it down.)

For toe separators for the Morton’s problem, I use various sizes of foam earplugs (PLEASE don’t tell my sister!). I put them between the third/fourth and fourth/pinky and I haven’t had a problem wearing them with dance shoes.

For the bunion, I’m still experimenting a bit - I used a soft flexible toe separator that I picked up at Walgreens, and I can tolerate it wearing practice shoes, but I haven’t tried it with court shoes or Latin sandals yet.

I won't tell your sister. Especially if you offer to loan her some of your earplugs next time she wants some for mowing the lawn, or for a loud concert.

Can you elaborate a little? Toe separators when sleeping or ?? Seems hard to fit extra bulk into most shoes, let alone dance shoes.
I buy foam toe separators by the 100 on Amazon. Podiatrist who diagnosed the neuroma turned me on to them. They fit between the affected toes, and b/c they're foam, they squish enough to fit in shoes, even in court shoes for Standard. Several sizes seen in this photo. I wear them every day, in heels and flats, sneakers, whatever. They have saved my dance life.

Wow, I'm impressed they fit in your court shoes. My own toes barely squished enough to fit in court shoes! But those might fit in my regular shoes, and I don't wear court shoes anymore, anyway. So only between the affected toes not between each of your toes? Sorry for all the questions.

I found court shoes with rounded toes; the podiatrist basically said, "You have to find new shoes if you're going to continue dancing," which sent me to Worldtone straight from his office on 55th street. He had made it clear that the court shoes were the cause of the Morton's.

Only between affected toes.

Debated between this and the "What hurts" thread, chose this one only b/c it was slightly more recent.

I swear, everything between my lower back (where it transitions to my bottom) and mid-thigh is constantly sore / achy / tight / hurting. I know it's overuse, misuse, inadequate stretching, aging but yeesh. It definitely amped up when I started taking tae kwon do with my son but it's dance's fault too. I have one of those shiatsu neck massagers but it's primarily being used on my glutes, hamstrings, and quads. I also bought some RockSauce (ice version) that is not going to last as long as I'd hoped at this rate.

The biggest problem I'm having is that the discomfort is starting to wake me up in the middle of the night. 2 or 3 A.M. and my hip area is hurting, and I can't find a position (either side or back) that's comfortable and not putting pressure on it (or at least feeling like it is). Somehow I usually fall asleep and it's not as noticeable in the morning when I wake up.

Also, there's an area in my left lower hip/upper thigh that I think I must have permanently or chronically damaged somehow. It's often sore-ish in a different way, and occasionally it "buckles", if that makes sense. I haven't fallen yet but I'm betting this is a super mild form of what it feels like right before that happens to, say an 85-year-old.

Thinking about some of the posts in the Whining thread about attending pro-actively to physical issues, I should probably at some point get things checked out, but I just don't think any doctor is really going to find anything at this point. "Take some Tylenol", lol.
