Tens of thousands of porteños have learned to dance, through-out history, without having detailed, technical descriptions of how to do it.

And actually this still is a problem that persists. I have met really a great number of argentine dancers and teachers, but I would only recommend a very small number of them which could meet the demands of european students. The learning environment and daily life in BsAs was totally different. Up to now "sink or swim" prevails in that cited generation. Asking will create confusion. But effectiveness and the understanding why rule over here.

They were thinking about creating dancers, not technicians.

By the way teaching and didactics is a technique.

They were thinking about creating dancers, not technicians.

Were you at those classes?
Can you desribe by you personal experience how it was taught?

I read that mean would learn follower's role for 2 yrs and later learn leader for 1.
Would like to wait 3 yrs before going to milonga?

BTW I know a tango teacher that learned dancing tango 30 yrs ago who has problem with modern way of dancing tango.

You can get the feeling of dancing, without having a technical description? What's wrong with that?

Maybe we have different meaning of technical description.

The problem when you don't explain enough that people tend to wrestle and they don't dance.

Only want to add that the "secrets" were mot taught at all. They were passed on to in-door students exclusively.
