I never saw this. In my world only advanced dancers dance along the tables and knees. Beginners seek the center, and of course all those too, that want to dance sweeping gestures.

I also notice this locally. Advanced dancers tend to move to the outer lane.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to dance BR tango at a Milonga, and it would be unacceptable at one of mine: I'd quietly ask them to stop. It works both ways, and I wouldn't welcome AT dancers on the floor at any function of mine while BR tango was being danced. They're just too different in their manner of movement ever to be able to coexist.

no doubt that's true. I have been known to tango in amongst jivers, in a notional slot, or more realistically, whatever space is available A good tango dancer has far more control, and uses less space than a modern jive couple.

This is the norm in my area as well.
