The perfect body image nightmare for comp.

i never knew there were sizes G and J... you ladies have enlightened me. :)

Yeah, and the problems start coming when you have a large cup size but a relatively small number size (aka 32, Although that's not even that bad - I had an aquiantance who was a 28DD - that's brutal) Apparently, most companies don't make bras like that and if you want something nice like lingerie - forget about it. It doesn't exist unless you order it from a tailor.

Anyway, sorry to throw this thread off topic and, SPratt, I'm very happy that you're happy with the dress - confidence is everything. As for the dieting and work out, do it for health reasons - not because you "want to lose weight" because that's a very slippery slope.
Anyway, Good luck to ya! :D

Now I just don't really care any more. If my imperfect body offends anyone, that's just too freakin' bad. One only goes around once in this life, and I'm going to spend it dancing, flabby arms and round tummy or no.

I'm right there with you.

I haven't had time to read all of the posts yet, but I had my dance lesson today, and we practiced with the Latin dress on. I actually felt really comfortable in it. And I liked the way the light shined on the stones. It was almost a different look because of the lighting! And he did nothing but compliment the dress, and how I looked in it, so I know he's happy with what we've chosen.

And I will say that I'm glad that I got to practice with it. It's different trying on the dress and practicing with it. I don't know how to explain it, but I think it's a good idea to practice with what you buy first. You will feel differently. We will practice with it more, but I got a chance to see how it would feel on me and how it would look on me. And I must say that I love it all!

I still have some things I have to work on. For instance, I have to start eating better, and I have to start working out. I'm going to try to work out an hour a night. I just have to stay focused on what my goal is. But I realized this weekend, that my lifestyle has changed, and some of it was not for the better. I let some of the other stuff go, so I'm going to change this about myself.

But I do plan on reading all of the responses. Just from glancing at this page, I can tell that it's going to be an interesting but fun read!

Congrats on your new dress and glad it makes you feel great!!! confidence and feeling great are so important!

I have always struggled with body image. In my mind I am just a fat girl with no waist, flabby arms, etc. I don't talk about it very much because I always get strange looks when I mention it. (The tango picture in my avatar was taken a few weeks ago, so that is my current weight, and yes, I was concerned about my body in that dress.) I was rail thin in my ballet days, and when I decided to go to college, really packed it on. I was exceptionally chunky for about a year or so and even though I've thrown out all of my "fatty" clothes long ago, I still see chubbette in the mirror, every day. There's just no getting away from that, ever. I always have to solicit opinions about costuming from my partner because I am so incredibly self-conscious about my body that oftentimes I pick clothing that I believe conceals weight problems but these choices almost always make me look heavier, not to mention conceal any movement. Lately I've purchased some brave Latin costumes and now my primary concern is pale skin over flab, but still, it is always somewhere in the back of my mind... You just have to push past it and trust the opinion of your partner or pro.

I've never heard about G or J before until seeing this thread. sorry to hear the back pain from big busted ladies.

question: is G so much bigger than D? or equivalent to DD? a girl emailed me asking for possible fit of one of my dresses. she's a DD, so is she almost a G? or there are supposed to be E and F between D and G? sorry for such retarded question, I've never paid attention to bigger cup sizes when shopping:(

DD = E
DDD = F
DDDD = G

and so on. It's just easier to put single letter sizes on a tag than to keep making more D's.

Exactly. Although I find that sometimes, DDD = G which I don't understand but I don't fit into those. I think some companies skip the E.

Oh don't apologize! I'm actually going to read the posts tonight! And yeah, after seeing my dress on the Ballroom floor, was a total difference in the way that I looked and felt inside me. It also gave my instructor a good vision as to how to make me look really sexy in it! So, I can't wait to practice more with it on.

Though I didn't realize until I bought this dress how heavy some stoning and bead work is! That's what my whole dress is designed as, and it's heavy! But also, the ends kind of scratch my legs a bit, because of all of the work done to it. So, that was good to know. But I think that's because it's mesh material, and that just has a different feeling in all about it.

But since we are talking about the upper portion, I must say that it did make the upper half look really good (though I wish it would do the same for my upper arms lol)! I'm going to see if I can't get some of my dresses that I have no backs to done that way! ;)

Oh and I'm going to work out for other health reasons. I want the muscle look not the flabby look or whatever you want to call it!;)
