Exactly! One way we thought of doing this was to set up a competition calendar, emphasizing comps that were welcoming to Seniors, and actually organizing folks to go en masse. We have many members who are interested in exactly what you propose.
Keep in mind there are a lot of different kinds of am/am seniors - you guys are champ/open, and from what I have seen the group focuses on that, but there are senior 1-4, bronze through gold, all four styles as well. It can be really hard to find a few other couples in your particular event (Senior X, Syllabus level bronze and silver, or silver and gold, or just one of the three, and in your style). Regional qualifiers and USA dance nationals have been the only places I have really ever seen contested senior am/am in the syllabus level.
With 100+ NDCA comps out there, sure any senior am/am can enter them, but odds are they will only see a few other am/am couples total all weekend in senior syllabus in any style, and none in their level, style, and age group - thus being uncontested. On top of that the NDCA entry structure means you have to pick between pre-bronze, bronze 1, bronze 2, full bronze, open bronze, etc (or similar variations). Nice if you want to dance extra times, but hard to guess where any other ams might happen to register, even if they are somewhat close to your age group.
Syllabus am/am at NDCA is also much more expensive for an am/am syllabus senior than USA dance, since you pay per dance, not per event (CC/R/S or whatever). You also can't do private videotaping. And then NDCA gives you barely a minute of music per dance, and the pro/am couples are mostly confused why you are out there in "their" heat. Unless they make some changes it isn't a very attractive option for syllabus senior am/ams.
