In the New Rulebook: 6.3.5. Judges that are active Athletes may only judge syllabus and open classifications below the Pre-​

Championship level.

Has this been followed, or is this new? Does this mean that professionals, currently dancing, may not judge championship level events?

Professionals do not fall under the dancesport athlete membership category.

It refers to the use of amateur judges, specifically those still competing themselves.

"Check in with the on-deck captain for your potato sacks" isn't a bad concept. Though you know darn well that someone is gonna cut fringe into it or strategically tuck it in to show off their assets

As Project Runway proved last week, you can do a lot with a potato sack.

It doesn't help people already at competitions, but reversing a good quality satin skirt so the matte side shows might be an option if the shiny "inside" wouldn't show too much. Hate to waste a perfectly good skirt.

Shiny fabrics are not allowed for men in certain categories (just search the doc for shiny). Not sure about women.

Perhaps we could run the comps under simple rules, and simply cut a deal with one of the dressmakers to supply the junior worlds team with painstakingly idsf compliant costumes in return for free advertising on the usa dance web site, magazine and/or booth space at nationals.

I don't think it explicitly says satin is not allowed. It says "Shiny...materials are not allowed", "Decoration or material with any light reflective qualities is not allowed", and "Basic materials with light effects – NA". I just happened to have a chance to ask Daphna in person at the MAC... some kids may or may not have been invigilated, because that was when she pointed it out to me

I would also imagine if duct tape was used, silver won't be allowed. All other color duct tapes seem pretty matte.

Lin - is the restriction just for juniors then or does it include Adult A? I've got some worried "kids" on the team.
