Washing machines woes

I have felt towels that are over-fabiric-softenered, and they suck. But I have never had that issue with putting one dryer sheet in with a load of towels and sheets. I think the issue crops up more if you use liquid fabric softener.

Maybe that's why I haven't had a problem. I use dryer sheets. Can't abide liquid fabric softener (probably a throwback to the days when our washing machine didn't have a dispenser so you had to listen out for the rinse cycle.)

Tell you what, though. When I met the ex, he had a set of towels that he had never used fabric softener on. They were SOOOO scratchy. *shudder*

I just use the sheets because I'm cheap. :)
Eeeew! I hate getting into bed if I'm shower-damp. Also, since I shower in the morning at o-dark-thirty, if I got back in bed to dry off I'd never get back out to go to work!

If you have to iron, iron on cool, inside out, least, that's what I do

Have to and iron. I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around those two things in one sentence. Have to and wear wrinkled clothes? That I get. But have to and iron? No.

Ironing is from the devil, to be avoided at any and all costs. Just saying. :-)

For future reference, I've heard that it's best not to use fabric softener (what you call conditioner?) with towels, because it leaves a residue that makes them less water-absorbent. No harm done once or twice -- I used dryer sheets with towels for years before I heard this -- but maybe something to keep in mind for next time.

I'll have to ask mum when she gets back what she uses it for. I wonder if it tastes as nice as it smells? :)

Ironing pile has two items /shudder.

Does your dryer have a de-wrinkle setting? Five minutes in a warm dryer can do wonders, if it's ironing you're trying to avoid. DO NOT ask me how I know this. *grin*

I don't think it has a de-wrinkle setting, just a timer which doesn't work properly... last time we set the timer the dryer had been going round for 24 hours... the clothes were proper toasty when I pulled them out... I wonder how much electricity it used that day? Anyways, have to check on it every hour to make sure we don't burn the place down!

Mum is a pro at ironing, she can iron a shirt faster than I can put it on... actually enjoys it
