Finally, replacing the Tanturi tracks with better transfers didn't work for me. Around two weeks before a DJ set, I am motivated to intensively listen to the tandas in question and improve them if necessary. In the long run, in a bad mood in the morning before breakfast, there is no scope to take into account what others are playing. Either it sounds good, I want to dance to it, I have an imagination of a ronda in my mind... or the tracks have to leave my shortlist.
And so I threw out Tanturi again and preferred Canaro and Firpo in the appropriate places.

Finally, someone who plays multiple tandas of Canaro! I try to have two or three tandas — his milongas are a must. Enjoyable music aside, they are a breath of fresh air between the melodramatic, intense and unrelenting tandas so many people seem to play these days.

Good guess, in addition to the "Tanturi-replacement-tanda" I also have a Canaro-milonga-tanda on the shortlist. But of course, I wouldn't be afraid about playing later on women's power from the 60's:

Personally prefer Di Sarli's version (sayeth the Di Sarli fanatic), but this is great fun!

Quality is one dimension, fun is another. Everything has it's time.
I don't mind balancing against other DJs to some extent, if too much *insert orchestra here* is being played recently then I might not play it. I think DJs should definitely take into account what the other DJs have been playing at festivals.

Yes, I have tango PTSD from the time they played the same Malerba tanda with Gitana Rusa and Remembranzas six times over the weekend of the tango marathon...

Is this something to laugh to cry about?May 15 2022: "You are to play NO Tangos from any of these orquestas: Canaro, Lomuto, Donato, Rodriguez, Malerba, Biagi. As well, you are to play NO old guard tangos. Please make sure you adhere to these - our milongueros are very knowledgeable. We have had to ask our DJs to step down during the course of the milongas, as sometimes things have not worked out."

Banning Rodriguez and Malerba tangos is something I would applaud tbh, and I have heard that the pre-GA orchestras aren't popular in BA, but Biagi being on the list is a surprise.

No Guardia Vieja is to be applauded (and is rarely heard in BsAs in my limited experience of 2.5 months there). I share Rabbit's surprise at the Biagi ban, as that is played for sure. The rest, I think, comes back to my experience that there is a subset of orchestras and songs that are typically played there, and many don't like DJs who stray too far outside it.
