What are you excited about in your dancing right now?

IndyLady is right about my preferences for several reasons. One of them she has mentioned already: I really need a bra with my dress, and outside of getting a comp dress made specifically for me (which is just outside of my budget right now), a closed back dress in size small but large and very sturdy/well holding cups is simply hard to find. I have two comp dresses, one from Arti and one from Nazar, I cannot wear because of the cup issue. And than there is also the matter of what makes financially sense. I'm planning to attend five comps next year. Renting would mean spending 2000 dollars on a dress I don't even own, as opposed to my DIY dress, which will cost me about 350 total, and I can wear it for all five comps. Finally, there is an emotional aspect to all this, too. Me wearing a dress that my daughter worked on (and I designed the stoning for together with her), that means a lot to me. I want the dress the be a part of me when I step on the dance floor, truly a second skin I can completely own, and I'm not sure I could feel that way with some random rental dress.

Maybe I'm wrong about all this, maybe a professional rental dress would be a wiser, if more expensive choice. But that's how I feel right now about the dress, and while I'm competitive and like to win, primarily I dance for the experience not the outcome, so turning a practice dress into a comp dress with the help of my daughter simply works better for me.
If the stoned dress turned out "unwearable", but you saw how it could have been stoned "appropriately", would buying the same dress again and stoning it be an option?
I sew, and will often make a "cheap sample" for fit, the 1st time I sew that item. Some have turned out well, and have become practice and Social outfits. Others were so terrible, I was glad I had not wasted the "good" fabric!

This. I think you're making the right decision. I get it as a mom myself. I just wish I have a daughter. Good luck

Just got a text notification that my new smooth shoes were delivered today! Quick - I need to finish whatever work I'm (supposed to be) doing and go home to try them on! And punch extra holes in the straps, and cut off the excess strap ends, and affix insoles, etc.

In other news, I uploaded a new video today of clips from my silver smooth waltz lesson last week. I think I'm actually seeing some progress, although it's glacial subtle. Oh, well...I don't have a deadline, so the speed (or lack thereof) of my progress is less important than its quality, and both of these are less important than the enjoyment I get from dancing.

Here's a place to record whatever it is you're excited about in your dancing right now.

It could be anything; a large or small accomplishment, a new learning, meeting a goal, meeting a new person, plans for the future, whatever....
Right now, I'm incredibly excited about the progress and opportunities in my dancing journey with Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal. The vibrant community and numerous performance opportunities at ABGMVM inspire me to continually improve and share my passion for dance with others.
