Wisconsin State 2009

It's possible! That is actually my favorite comps to go to! The overall feeling, hotel, staff & organizers is the best!

Bunch of pros from one studio, and at least two from my main studio are going, including FP and both her partners.

Wisconsin dancesport

I was just wondering if anyone here has competed at the Wisconsin State dancesport championships...are there pro/am divisions? How much is it to enter?

Thanks in advance!

There are definitely pro am divisioins, generally with a really good turnout. Dan puts on a great competition (as well as doing a good job on coachings and judging, but that's beside the point). All the prices should be on the website.

Actually, looking at your location, you jsut missed Indiana challenge, another good local comp, and st louis star ball is in two weeks. :) After Wisconsin you should head to Crystal Ball in June (was in wheeling last year, believe it's same place this year), and harvest moon and windy city classic are both here in town too. At least one more comp in Indiana later in the year that's also a reasonable drive.

The competition's web site indicates that there are pro/am divisions. I don't find entry fees listed, but that's not uncommon for pro/am competitions, because some pros add a profit margin to the fees they charge their students.

If you're interested in competing in this event pro/am, you should be able to get price details from your pro.

If you're referring to the Great Race Dancesport competition in South Bend, it's looking as if it might not happen this year.

According to the GRD home page, "Due to recent construction on the University of Notre Dame campus and specifically at the Joyce Athletic & Convocation Center, the Great Race/NDCA Dancesport event scheduled to be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 1, 2 and 3, 2009, has been temporarily put on hold. New dates for 2009 and 2010 are being considered and will be announced..."

I was actually thinking that there were two, but couldn't remember names for sure. That one and heart of america maybe? or is that in another state and I'm just getting confused? Certainly wouldn't be first time. :)

You might be thinking of the "Heartland Classic" in Indianapolis, but that's the name of the USA Dance (all amateur) competition there.

I think there has also been an NDCA competition in Indy. I've never attended, but vaguely remember seeing one advertised once.

yeah, that's the one. I really need to dig out my old list of local comps. had tracked all of them down last year for pro, was useful to have.

But anyway, I'll get back on topic. ;) Every student I know whose done proam at Wisc really enjoyed it, and plans on going back. Even people I know who went just as spectators were really impressed with it, and it's a quick trip from here in Chicago.

thanks for the info everyone

-- I will ask my teacher about it it depends if i have all three of my routines done and lookin good by then! :)
