World Pro Am Championship Category

After all how many judges are truly versed in NDCA, AMI, FA, ISTD, DIVIDA etc syllabi,

You may be surprised how many.. remember , many of us worked at, and coached, at both Chains and Indies,. The Intern. style coaches from o/seas were, at one time, at a big dis advantage with the Amer. system, but that has improved considerably .

Here's an example for the ProAm syllabus 'restrictions' from the upcoming Classique de Quebec:

Pro-Am American Style: Material used should be based on the following Social step list Syllabus of CDF, NDCA, ARTHUR MURRAY, FRED ASTAIRE,
DVIDA, CDTA, CPDDSQ and any recognized Social or American style Syllabus. No continuity style in Bronze.

International style is a bit clearer:
Pro-Am International Style: Material used should be based on the CDF, NDCA, ISTD or IDTA Syllabus.
As a visiting judge would you know the CDF syllabus?

Can you imagine the competition discussion:

Would couple 123 please approach the podium:

Invigilator "You did a throwaway oversway followed by twelve pivots in your silver routine - that is clearly not allowed in any of the CDF, NDCA, ARTHUR MURRAY, FRED ASTAIRE, DVIDA, CDTA, CPDDSQ Syllabi."

Couple 123 "well its OK at the Club Ballyhoo new years day competition:

"It is? I suppose that does fall into the 'any recognized Social or American style'. OK."

There's at least one guy in FA system (seen him judge and invigilate at local NDCA comps too), who knows all the recognized syllabi. It's insane, has to just spend all his time studying them. Can never remmeber his name though. He did last pro testing in region, and I guess gave them huge rundown on our syllabus after (before?) the testing was done. Was insane level of detail he knew it, and was comparing it to all the other major ones, though I guess he also writes the written books for our syllabus, so isn't too surprising. :)

Big group going from DanceSport in Manhattan, Would love to get out of the cold and frigid. The last place I want to go to is north of the boarder. Went through that a few years ago. Snow for 4 days, and an adventure getting back to the airport. Wish I could go to the Bahamas and see the Pro Gladiator event. To see Slavik and Ricardo go at it head to head. Organizer said that countries included so fat include, USA, Canada, England, China Taiwan, Macao, Italy, Russia, So Africa and others. Sounds like a World Pro/Am is actually happening.

Is anybody going to the Bahamas event that would be happy to write me a report from the professional shows?
