Not sure what to do next

Yeah, there's a significant number of people in Buenos Aires that consider cabeceo protocol to be outdated.

For me cabeceo worked there perfectly fine. ironically it was mainly locals doing verbal invitations It's fine if the DJs can control their childish impulses to press all the buttons on the lighting console!

Oh, I do deconstruct things too - I tend to just post the synthesis, that's why my post length is probably the lowest average on this forum

No need to break it down - we should all just discard the parts that we think are crap, which frees up space to either experiment with what could be better or just enjoy dancing casually. Since I think there is a lot of nonsense currently in circulation I guess that makes me a modernist.

Doesn't bother me, it works exactly like a book

Not sure what to do next

Well that's because attempting to cabeceo people who are either talking or just sitting next to other dancers of the same role is unreliable

Not sure what to do next

It's common to improve one aspect at the expense of others and therefore become a worse dancer overall. Typical examples include creating lines with muscle tension, stepping on the beat but only being able to start the movement at one timing, dancing technically correctly but without any...

Not sure what to do next

I don't think it is completely pseudoscience, but I believe extraversion-intraversion is a composite of several different personality traits (there are different breakdowns if you take different personality tests) and therefore I always scored somewhere in the middle. I am not sure it is very...

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

All the more reason to dance or do anything else that teaches people to connect with their bodies and develop good posture Physical labour, in any case, is far more likely to cause long term injury...

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

You can stand like this and remain completely within your own axis by leaning forward from the hip and allowing the pelvis to move back. That's the "illusionary" version. It is not easy to determine how much the partners are actually leaning on each other from the outside. I personally prefer...

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

Tbh I think we've looped back to the subject of poor quality teaching here ... if people aren't able to dance in this position comfortably they should not be instructed to use it. Also, it is not compulsory to dance with a pronounced A frame anyway

It helps if there's something encouraging them to connect with each other outside the class such as a social group or practica

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

I think "ballroom AT" already is its own distinct style. It's just a question of confusing nomenclature

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

I think Youtube actually demonstrates the positives of democratization. Perhaps not for AT specifically, but there is a lot of high quality educational / informative / entertainment content available that simply isn't on conventional TV because it is either niche or too in-depth for the general...

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

The particles need to be sequenced into something that flows naturally from one movement to the next. Otherwise its the equivalent of pressing random keys on a piano

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

But I think the goal should be to teach people the skill set to do self-improvement. How else are we actually going to evolve good dancers?

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

Yeah the boundaries can blur a little, I have some partners that like dramatic interpretations (at least with me), in this case some performance elements in the sense of deliberately portraying an emotion, situation or character can enter the social sphere by mutual consent.

What Is Tango Doing Right/Wrong: Recruiting and Retaining

well, that's the difference between performance (narrative) and social dance (conversation)

Both connection and movement are media. The content is what you use them to communicate. (and my general complaint with performances of tango or other couple dances is the lack of content)

9 euros!? Do they get the venue free or something? it would certainly help recruiting if we could charge people basically nothing ;) (the universities here have cheap classes but not THAT cheap)
