At the end of the pandemic, maybe a new start?

Technology and form are two different aspects. I can create a very nice vibe with two synced little JBLs and my iPhone.
The association had set up its 4 PA speakers a little overhead, which was appropriate for the community hall. From a technical point of view, the available resources were correctly allocated. Spotify doesn't have to be, of course.
You just don't get the transparent sound of studio speakers installed high up with modern transfers (TangoTunes, TangoTimeTravel). But who cares?

On the contrary, I suspect that digital transfers (Tangotunes, Tangotimetravel) artificially cut the bass back.

The digitization process also necessarily involves applying an EQ to emulate the one on the phonograph, as record discs are cut with an unbalanced EQ curve for technical reasons. You could argue whether TT did this part of the process for any given album correctly or not, I don't have an informed opinion on that as I do not own any analog hardware, but I don't believe the intent is to cut anything. Anyway they didn't get it so badly wrong that any slider needs to be turned up to +10.

People being upset is a problem, to be sure, but perhaps not the obvious problem. For me, it's a sign of a problem with that person, not with the non-inclusiveness I mentioned. My favorite partners are all people who can say, "Oh, darn, we didn't dance tonight. Well, that's tango! Maybe next time?"
For me there is a similar group of followers but split in two. The smallest part of it is the core of the followers, the ones I always dance with. Many of them are or have been my training partners or are true friends even outside the milongas.

The bigger group is of followers with whom I also like to dance vals, milonga, pugliese or something else. There are Asian visitors or people who have a special challenge for me!

I have usually no problem here. If we don't dance we maybe comment it and at next event we will for sure share a tanda.

The problems arise with the others who would like to share a tanda with me. I'm not the best social dancer here but experienced enough to offer an enjoyable tanda according to rumors and this creates a pressure on me. If I was a socially skilled person the stress would not be such a problem as it is today.

Isn't this simply a cultural issue? And also for a visitor to another country? I believe some countries have done better than others about educating immigrants on the culture of their new country.

Whether we like it or not, our culture does not have the same norms as others. I've heard Argentinians say it's not right for men to follow, or to have dual-role tango dancers. In their view, it's just not tango. And they're right that it isn't their tradition.

Similarly when we go to another culture, then we ought to try, diplomatically, to fit in rather than imposing our norms. That doesn't mean we won't both evolve from our standpoint.

All these people are fun, interesting to dance with!

Even as a child I loved to read about China and Japan. As an adult I completed one of my bachelor degrees in Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, sanskrit). But it was a time ago and I have lost the most of my skills there. Now I try to get the basics of Korean but that is a quite demanding for me, but I seldom quit if I like something. :) But I try to invite all Asian visitors if they are interested!

For me challenges in dance can be fun, truly interesting and develop my understanding of the dance. If I am a good dancer and she is a good dancer what is the hindrance, why is it not working for us and then together find a way to a good tanda is really satisfying and fun.

(the first version had an unclear structure - therefore this is addition)

I'm just reading at an event with registration:
Some Yoga classes for everyone.
Special: All serious double Role dancers are automatically IN no need to register with a partner
If more women then men are interested, then it corresponds to democratic understanding that tango becomes more feminine.
Think, for thousands of years, yoga was also a male domain and not a prenatal activity.

Just reading this shocking message on facebook:
..... it all started in 2017 ..... milonguero-style minimalism was an important stage in the development of Argentine tango in Europe ..... Tango continues to change ...... from this year I am no longer part of the ... organisation. For more than 15 years, my events were mainly focused on the Milonguero style. My new tango events will be more open (without prohibitions) so that dancers of other styles will also be interested in my new events. The main features of Milonguero events, such as a very good Dj's, very good dance floor and sound system, respectful interaction on and off the dance floor, will be maintained. You know, time only knows one direction ..... Tango moves forward.
Looks like the tango will have to move on without me for now.

I... am confused. Is this from a milonga/event organizer, some prominent figure in a tango community? Is the """milonguero""" style that incompatible with other """styles""", or is that the events they organised had rules against other styles?? What?

Perhaps a bit of context (while maintaining privacy, naturally) would be helpful in explaining more. o_O

I have noticed it too! When I last autumn revisited the local, most formal milonga the *strict* was disappearing in the dance but still visibly on how the invitations worked and how we were seated.

It was kind of nostalgic moment because I really would like to have access to events, or at least to one, where the crowd is interested in meditative type of tango.

Didn't you know that most die-hard conservatives and backward looking stylists only for economic and strategic reasons advocate their style. Perhaps you didn't spend enough money to keep them backward looking.
On this we seem to have different opinions!

I appreciate true variation and truly different options for tango. Even when my tangosalon is on the rise now, I would like to maintain my ability to dance milonguero. Of course my early tangonuevo need some brush up and the historic variations of tango take time to become active part of my vocabulary.

All these tango variations I can do with a single partner, sharing the same idea but it is totally different matter to have an entire pista carried through a tanda with same, shared idea for movements.
