I think Steph has around 20 pairs of tango shoes, and significantly more street ones, so I have some headroom yet!

I'm actually not sure how many pairs of tango shoes I have. I kept them in a box while I wasn't dancing. Some are too big, either purchased too big or stretched out, some are too high - I used to dance in the highest heels before a knee injury now I prefer a lower heel. Some probably need repairs.
I definitely own: 2 pairs worn-out CIF 1 black 1 multicolour,
1 pair peacock colours madreselva - need re-heeling and too high except for 10 flashy minutes at a milonga
1 pair tan suede - stretched and worn out. Brand name unknown
2 pairs of Darcos low heels - I may have thrown these out
2 new pairs of Madame pivot - unworn due to lockdown
That's 3 usable pairs of tango shoes with possibly a few more lessons left in the old CIF pairs. Somewhere I also have usable Bloch or Capezio sneakers and whatever else is in the box.
I love the Capezios and use them most of the time. I almost exclusively lead socially though.
I have small feet so the Capezios are the split sole ones with the webs that kids wear - maybe even the pink ones if they were on sale. I've bought them a few different times over the years. They're ok. They require a different foot motion to tango shoes so I don't wear them that often. Capezio brand shoes don't fit me very well.

Most of the "dressier" clothing I've purchased in the last 10 years has been for tango. Obviously, it's dual purpose, but I bought it because I like to dress well when I dance, and I like good clothing. I've had several pieces made by a local (and not very expensive) tailor. All the rest were purchased. Plus several pairs of tango shoes. Shirts, trousers, vests for warm weather and cold. I need a bigger budget!

The Pivot mens shoes are very well made. Best looking dance shoes I've seen and comfortable. Worth the money. A good pair of bench-made walking shoes for a man will set you back close to $500 today, or more.

A female friend of mine has about 100 pairs of tango shoes. One other dancer friend has around 35. They seem to accumulate over time.

Yeah, that's more than five.
Definitely! If you’ve got irregular or non-standard feet you’ll accumulate even more because you’ll always be searching for the perfect pair.

By the way, the friend with the 100 pairs of shoes doesn't dance much anymore and was looking to sell some of them. Forget her foot size, but it's on the small size.

TNiSD, I thought you'd like to hear something that I thought was great: I was at a milonga recently where the final cortina song, before the last tanda, was "Save the Last Dance for Me." Maybe it's something that'll catch on with other DJs -- you could suggest it to DJs in your community.
